Record Vhs To Dvd

Your large collection of VHS tapes has served you well over the years, but those cassettes won't last forever. Once you connect a DVD recorder to your VCR so it receives the VCR's signal, you can record all of your VHS tapes onto DVDs, whose quality will last much longer.


Instructions


1. Get a DVD recorder that will receive and record the signal transmitted from your VCR. A tuner-less DVD recorder may work best because it should receive the VCR's signal unconditionally.


2. Connect the DVD recorder to the VCR and TV so that the broadcast signal goes from the VCR to the DVD recorder to the TV. To do this, connect a VCR's output port to the DVD's input and the DVD's output to the TV. You will likely need to use RCA composite cables for this. If you can use RF coaxial cables, they might transmit better. Plug in the power cord.

Charge a Capacitor


A capacitor usually consists of two conductors placed close to each other. It stores electrical charge in units that are called a farad. Common capacitor values typically range from picofarads to nanofarads to microfarads.


To charge a capacitor, you only need to attach it directly to a power source. Since this will charge it almost immediately, use a resistor to slow this charging time down. Also, to measure the voltage of the capacitor before, during, and after discharging, use a multimeter.


Instructions


1. Connect one end of the battery holder to the switch. Make sure the switch is open (in the up position).


2. Attach a resistor to the other end of the switch.


3. Secure one end of a capacitor to the resistor, and the other end of the capacitor to the unoccupied terminal of the battery holder.


4. Change the settings on the multimeter to that of voltage. Place one lead across one end of the capacitor and the other lead across the other end of the capacitor. You may need to find it necessary to use extra wires to hold the leads in place.


5. Place a battery inside the battery holder, and close the switch. Observe the values on the voltmeter. The charge on the capacitor should b approximately equal to that of the voltage from the power.


6. To discharge the capacitor quickly, replace the battery with a wire. Do not touch the capacitor directly. Again, observe the values on the voltmeter. It will decrease in time to approximately zero.

Instructions For The Mio Digiwalker

The DigiWalker is a portable GPS device manufactured by Mio. The unit is used to provide turn-by-turn navigation. The GPS technology detects the user's location and gives directions to an end destination or point of interest. The DigiWalker also includes a touch screen and stylus for added ease of use. Prior to first use, the Mio DigiWalker must be charged and set up for navigation.


Instructions


1. Locate the power switch to the Mio DigiWalker at the back of the device. Using the stylus pen, slide the "ON / OFF" power switch left to the "ON" position. For first use, connect the provided AC adapter cable into the bottom of the DigiWalker and into a nearby wall outlet.


2. Locate the GPS antenna in the back of the DigiWalker, on the right side. Flip the antenna up to the horizontal position for normal operation. View the front of the DigiWalker to see the touch-enabled LCD screen and the controls. Insert the provided SD memory card into the right side of the unit. Press the "Power" button in the top-right portion of the DigiWalker to turn the device on.


3. View the main screen of the DigiWalker for the first time. Tap the "Navigation" icon to view the GPS navigation section of the DigiWalker. A virtual map of your current location will open on the screen. Use the navigational arrows on the right side of the unit to move the map. Press the Zoom In and Zoom Out buttons (above the navigational arrows) to perform zoom functions on the map.


4. Press the Navigational Settings button (marked with a small flag icon) located in the top right portion of the DigiWalker. Tap the "Address" option on the screen to open the destination address function. In the "City" header, tap the name of the city that you need directions to. Tap "Street" at the top of the screen to display street names for the selected city. Using the stylus pen, scroll through the list and select your street name. Tap "Number" at the top of the screen and enter the street number using the soft key board at the right side of the screen. Tap "Navigate" to begin to follow your route.


5. Follow the provided route by viewing the blue line on the map. Observe the turn-by-turn voice prompts to help guide you to your direction.

Instructions for the Magnavox Keychain Digital Camera


Magnavox's tiny digital keychain camera was released in 2008. It has the capacity to capture either 20 pictures at 352 x 288 pixels each, 60 compressed images, 81 QCIF images at 176 x 144 pixels each, 243 compressed QCIF images, or 10 seconds of video footage. It weighs 11 ounces, measures 2.3 x 0.6 x 1.6 inches, comes in a variety of colors, and is packaged with a AAA battery, an install CD, a USB cable, and a key chain.


Instructions


1. Open the battery chamber by turning the camera upside down and pushing the compartment open with your thumb. Insert one AAA battery in accordance with the battery polarity indicators. Closet the battery chamber.


2. Turn the power on by pressing the Mode button (located on the front of the camera to the left of the LCD screen). The camera will automatically power down to stand-by mode if left untouched for 30 seconds. Push the Mode button again to wake it up.


3. Check the LCD screen (located on the front of the camera) to see how many pictures you have left. The camera is capable of taking 20 pictures. If the LCD screen is not displaying a number, press the Mode button until it does.


4. Slide the Viewfinder switch (located on the left side of the camera) over to release the viewfinder at the top of the camera. Compose your image through the viewfinder and hold the camera body still as you depress the shutter release button (located on the top right side of the device). When the image is captured, the camera will beep once.


5. Press the Mode button repeatedly to access several functions: ST (Self-Timer), CT (Continuous Shooting Mode), CP (Compress Mode), NP (Non-Compress Mode), AL (Video Function Mode), CL (Delete Last Photo), CA (Delete All Photos), HR (High Resolution Format, and LR (Low Resolution Format).


6. Activate the Self-Timer by selecting ST while going through Modes. Depress the Shutter Release button to lock the mode and begin the countdown of 10 seconds before the picture snaps. Afterwards, the camera will go back to its regular mode.


7. Install the AvailaSoft software and camera driver (supplied) to transfer images from your camera to your computer. The install window will automatically pop up after the CD has been inserted. Follow the prompts until install is successful. Attach the USB connector to the camera and to the computer. Open the MyCam progam, click Yes to view thumbnails of your pictures, select the pictures you want to upload, and click save.

The iPhone 4 -- sometimes referred to as the iPhone 4G -- is a combination multimedia device and smartphone developed by Apple. It runs on Apple's proprietary iOS operating system and is available in 16 gigabyte (GB) and 32GB configurations. The phone works on AT&T and Verizon networks in the United States.


History and Controversy


According to technology website Gizmodo, in April 2010 an Apple employee mistakenly left an early prototype of the iPhone 4 in a California bar. Gizmodo purchased the prototype for $5,000. The company then published photos and technical specifications of the device online, prompting lawyers for Apple to issue a much-publicized letter asking that Gizmodo return the prototype. Gizmodo complied. Apple officially released the iPhone 4 on June 24, 2010. It sold more than 1.7 million units in its first three days on the market.


Physical Specifications


The iPhone 4 measures 2.3 inches wide, 4.5 inches tall and just under 0.4 inches thick. It weighs 4.8 oz., or 0.3 pounds. It uses an ARM Cortex-A8 processor built on ARMv7 architecture with a clock speed of 1.0 gigahertz (GHz). On-board power for the iPhone 4 comes from a built-in rechargeable 1420 mAh lithium-ion battery. The phone comes with a set of Apple headphones, a USB power adapter and a dock connector.


Display and Multimedia


Apple outfits the iPhone 4 with a 3.5-inch wide-screen multi-touch display. The display features a native resolution of 960 by 640 pixels and contrast ratio of 800 to 1. The screen features retina display and a typical contrast ratio of 800 to 1. It supports H.264, MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG video formats at varying resolutions. The device also features two integrated cameras, one outward-facing with a 5-megapixel sensor and 5x zoom, and one inward-facing with a 0.3-megapixel sensor.


Connectivity


The iPhone 4 is built around a stainless steel frame. The frame also serves as the phone's antenna. GSM versions of the iPhone 4 are compatible with HSUPA, UMTS and HSDPA networks at 850, 900, 1900 and 2100 megahertz (MHz), as well as with GSM/ EDGE networks at frequencies of 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. Why Should Teens Have Cell Phones

In the 1980s and 1990s when cell phones first went mainstream, they were mostly used by business people. What Is Foam Core Board

Foam core board is a lightweight, sturdy board made by adhering two sheets of paper to either side of a foam core. It is easy to cut and customize, and suited for indoor mounting applications. Often, it is clay-coated for an even smoother finish, although companies are now producing foam core boards with textured finishes as well.


History


The original white foam core board was made by Monsanto Company in 1957, under the name Fome-Cor. It was made to 1/8-inch (3 mm) and 3/16-inch (5 mm) thicknesses and sold primarily to graphic arts companies. In 1993, Monsanto sold the business to International Paper. As of 2010, Alcan Composites operates the business and the thickness of foam core board ranges from 1/16 inch to 1/2 inch.


Ingredients


The main material used in foam core boards is polystyrene, which forms the center core of the board. Like all basic plastics, polystyrene is made from petroleum and can be produced in its expanded state, which creates the little cells in the center foam layer.


There are two different types of paper used for foam core boards. The first is clay-coated paper, which is simply normal paper coated in a very thin layer of china clay. This type of clay is preferred because it has a low capacity for shrinking and expanding. The other paper commonly used is Kraft paper, which is rougher and often used for paper grocery bags. It can be dyed or bleached white.


Uses


Foam core boards are used primarily by artists to mount images, but are also used to produce architectural models, prototypes of small objects and scenery for games and dioramas. Photographers use foam core board as a reflector. It can also be used as a backing material for picture framing. According to FoamCoreBoard.net, artists may sometimes prefer to use black foam core board, which is more rarely made and often more expensive.


Variants


The surface of the regular board is slightly acidic. Alcan produces a neutral, acid-free version for archival picture framing and art purposes. Some boards are now available with solid styrene and other rigid plastic sheeting. Color and texture may vary, although it is worth noting that these are more expensive as well.


Glues


Foam core board does not hold up well to some glues and certain paints, as the foam will melt away and dissolve. Elmer's white glue, for example, can warp the fibers in the outer layers due to the water content. Best results are obtained with a spray-on mount adhesive or with a hot glue gun, though the latter can sometimes result in the board warping. Currently on the market are self-adhesive foam boards, but the glue sets extremely quickly, making them difficult to use.

Convert Slides To Negatives With A Scanner

35mm slides often fade over time.


In an age of digital photography, priceless photos captured in an outdated format are easily lost or forgotten. Few people still have the means to view old slides photographed decades ago. In an effort to digitally restore and archive these images, some people are looking to scanners that convert 35mm slides to digital negatives. A wide variety of scanners have this ability, such as flatbeds with film adapters or smaller scanners that are specifically designed for transparent media. Slides can fade and crack over time, but digital files capture the highest resolution of the original image's data for future viewing.


Instructions


Scanning Slides with a Flatbed Scanner


1. Purchase a flatbed photo scanner with slide scanning capabilities.


2. Install the scanner and any included software. Review your manual for instructions specific to your model.


3. Clean the glass with a soft lint-free cloth or moistened electronic-safe wipes. Remove any dust on your slides with a photo-safe brush or pressurized can of air.


4. Remove the template and/or cover used to secure the slides.


5. Place the slides on the glass, aligning with the proper corner according to the placement markers or arrows as indicated along edges of the glass.


6. Close the lid securely. Press the scan button or use your scanner software to initiate scanning from the computer. Specify the output settings and the file location where you would like to save the digital negative(s).

7. Purchase a slide scanner that converts 35mm film to digital negatives.

Instructions For A Power Shot A95 Canon

Canon's PowerShot A95 compact digital camera is designed with an LCD screen that flips and tilts 180 degrees for previewing images. The screen can face forward to aid a photographer wanting to put himself in the picture. The camera can operate as a simple point-and-shoot camera or give the user full manual control of the image. The camera can also shoot video.


Instructions


1. Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the camera by sliding the release latch away from the camera body. Insert four AA batteries. Close the compartment door.


2. Open the memory card compartment on the right side of the camera. Insert the CF memory card with the front of the card facing toward the back of the camera. Close the compartment door.


3. Open the LCD screen by pulling the screen out toward the left side of the camera. Tilt the screen at the best angle for viewing.


4. Turn on the camera. If this is the first time you have used the camera, follow the instructions on the LCD screen for setting the default date, time and language. Use the large directional button on the back of the camera, as well as the "Set" button, to make your choices.


5. Put the camera in "Shooting" mode using the switch marked with a camera icon and an arrow. The camera indicates "Shooting" mode. The arrow indicated "Playback" mode for previewing pictures.


6. Select a photography mode using the "Shooting Mode" dial on top of the camera. Choose "Auto" to allow the camera to choose the best settings based on the lighting conditions.


7. Look through the viewfinder or use the LCD screen to frame your picture. Adjust the zoom lens using the "Zoom Lever" around the shutter button. Push from side to side to extend or retract the lens.


8. Press the shutter button partially down to engage the autofocus.


9. Press the shutter button again, all the way down, to take the picture.


10. Use the mode switch to put the camera in "Preview" mode. See the pictures you have taken on the LCD screen. Use the directional buttons to scroll through the images.


11. Attach the camera to a computer with a USB cable to download your pictures for printing or storage.

1. If you would like to finish this step quickly, please sort you pictures firstly. Please set up a folder for all the pictures you have and then sort them according to time or some other meaningful criteria. For example, if you would like to make s slideshow for your children. While applying album, you just need to click "Album Theme" tab and then choose a theme from more than 70 provided templates.


4. This is the step for choosing DVD menu which can make your created slideshow DVD look more professional. More than 80 menu templates are available in this program. You just need to click on the desired one and then all the layout and background of the selected template will be applied to your slideshow. However, you can still make any changes as you like.


5. This is the last step you need to do. After all these modifications, you can burn your creative work onto disc at once. First, you need to choose the output format in the program, DVD, SVCD or other formats? Then choose the recorder on your computer. Now click "Burn Now" to start encoding your project. Digital Camera Memory Card Types

SD cards are small and can fit inside certain cell phones.


Digital camera memory is an important feature of digital photography because it essentially is the digital equivalent of film. Digital cameras can have internal memory, an external memory card or a combination of both. There are several different types of memory cards with various storage capacities, sizes and features.


CompactFlash


This is one of the most common types of digital memory cards. Most compact cameras and all D-SLR cameras are CompactFlash compatible. They usually are inexpensive and feature an internal drive device that allows for faster processing. They come in two sizes, Type I and Type II. Type I is slightly thicker, while Type II has slightly larger storage capacity.


SD and MMC


Secure Digital, or SD, and MultiMedia Cards, or MMC, are memory cards and the smallest available on the market, They can be used with some phones, PDAs and MP3 players. Their maximum storage capacity is 512 MB. The only difference between the two is that SD cards have a security switch that prevents them from being overwritten.


xD Picture Cards


Introduced by Olympus and Fuji, xD Picture Cards are small memory devices with a storage capacity of 512 MB. They fit into many smaller cameras and are compatible with devices that accept CompactFlash cards.


Memory Stick


Memory Stick is a Sony product developed for its CyberShot line and certain other company products. They are not compatible with other brands. They are available in 256 MB and 1 GB capacities.


MicroDrive


MicroDrive is a miniature hard drive encased in a Type II CompactFlash memory card shell. It was developed by IBM and was the first memory card to hold a full gigabyte of memory. However, because they contain moving parts, they are fragile.


SmartMedia


SmartMedia cards were the predecessor to xD Picture Cards. They were used in most Olympus and Fuji cameras but are being phased out. Because of this, their price has dropped significantly, making them an inexpensive option.

Instructions


1. Insert a 2GB micro SD card into the designated slot on the side of the mini spy cam. Note that, because the mini spy cam has no internal memory, you must insert a micro SD card to record.


2. Push the "Hold" switch to its left. The "Hold" switch is located on the same side of the spy cam as the micro SD card slot.


3. Locate the "On/Off" switch on the opposite side of the mini spy cam. Slide the switch to the "On" position; the "Power" indicator light on the front of the spy cam will turn blue in response.


4. Hold down the large, round "Record/Stop" button on the front of the mini spy cam for three seconds. The "Record" light to the right of the "Power" indicator will turn green and blink to indicate that the device is recording; recording will not activate if a micro SD card has not been inserted.


5. Press and hold the "Record/Stop" button to stop recording. Never use the "On/Off" switch to stop recording, or the footage will not be saved to the micro SD card.


6. Connect the mini spy cam to your computer with a USB cable, and slide the "On/Off" switch to the "On" position to charge the device or review the recorded footage.

Open A Sandisk C250

MP3 players are easy to load and handy to own for the music lover.


The Sandisk Sansa c250 is part of the c200 series MP3 player that has a color LCD display, FM radio, digital equalizer, a digital voice recorder and a photo browser. It comes stock with 2 GB of storage capacity, which can be expanded with a micro-SD card. Instructions

You can do this with one of many programs readily available online, some or which are free.


Instructions


1. Locate and download some encryption or password protection software. In addition to a wide number of options available on the Internet, there are a wealth of options listed among the References and Resources sections that accompany this article.


2. Plug your USB memory stick into an open USB port on your computer. USB connectors are designed to fit in the port only one way; if the stick won't slide in easily, try turning it over. Open your USB drive in the computer's "Explorer" or "Finder."


3. Create a new folder for all of the data you wish to secure. Name the folder whatever you want, then click and drag all of the items you want to protect into that folder.


4. Open your password or encryption software. Follow its on-screen prompts to select your secured folder and begin the encryption. 565 Telescope Bushnell Lens Identification

Finding the right telescope can offer greater viewing potential.


The Bushnell Voyager 565 x 60 telescope offers first-rate optical quality and mechanical construction to get a clear view of faraway objects in the sky. This is a refracting lens telescope (where one looks down into the eyepiece) that is set on an aluminum tripod and is adaptable to cameras. The telescope's unique configuration of the Penta mirror technology, Finderscope, eyepieces and Barlow lens allow greater and easier viewing capacity.


Penta Mirror


The Penta Mirror technology is exclusive to Bushnell. It offers a 90-degree viewing angle similar to diagonal mirrors but, more importantly, allows correct views of images. This means that instead of seeing images reversed -- where you have to move to the right to view an image on the left -- you can naturally move to the left to locate an object. Locating objects to view as they appear in the night sky is so much easier than fumbling trying to locate an object that isn't where it appears to be. The Penta Mirror, which is shaped somewhat like a half-circle, is placed into the end of the telescope-focusing tube, and the eyepiece is placed into the other end.


The Eyepiece


The Bushnell Voyager comes with three eyepieces -- 8 mm, 12.5 mm and 20 mm. These are small silver cylinders that have a black viewing end and screw into the telescope on the other end. Always start with the lowest power. The eyepiece can be inserted into the rear of the Penta mirror assembly. A formula to determine the power of each eyepiece is to divide the eyepiece number by the telescope's objective lens focal length, which is 750 mm. So 750 divided by 20 mm = 38x, or 38 power.


Barlow Lens


Double or triple the power of the telescope with the Barlow lens. It is a small cylinder that comes with the telescope with the lens on one end and a mount on the other that screws into the telescope. It should be placed between the focusing tube and the Penta Mirror. Using the Barlow lens with the Penta Mirror and eyepiece effectively doubles the magnification power over the Barlow lens and eyepiece alone. This means the power would go from 38 with eyepiece alone to 114 with Barlow lens and eyepiece to 228 power with all three configured.


Finderscope


The red dot Finderscope is used to locate objects in the night sky by aligning them with the red dot. The Finderscope is a small cylinder that slides onto the Finderscope mount. To use it, look through the main telescope tube at low power to find a well-known object. Then look through the Finderscope and tighten the adjustment wheels at the rear and left side of the Finderscope until the red dot in the cross hairs is centered on the same object you saw in the main telescope tube. Always start with the lowest-power eyepiece, as this will give a brighter image and a wider view field, making it easier to find the targeted object.

Use A Realtime Analyzer To Tune A Car Audio System

If you are a fanatic about the sound quality of your car's stereo system, you will want to use a real-time analyzer (RTA). It can monitor each frequency of music across the spectrum from 20 Hertz (Hz) to 20,000 Hz and discover peaks and valleys in the frequency range. Once you know where the peaks and valleys are, you can make adjustments to eliminate them, ensuring a smooth transition between frequencies.


Instructions


Preparations


1. Get a CD that plays pink noise. Pink noise is all frequencies of the spectrum generated at the same level. It sounds like static when you play it.


2. Make sure that the RTA's battery is properly charged. Most devices include a readout that tells you if the battery is charged or needs charging.


3. Make certain that you have a good stand for the RTA's microphone. The microphone will be attached to the stand and the assembly will be put on the driver's seat in the car. The stand needs to have a base securely weighted so that it will stay in one position without moving.


4. Look around the vehicle and take out all items that are not a part of the interior of the car. Remove briefcases, old soda cans, everything; sound bounces off some surfaces and is absorbed by others, and these items influence the sound that is measured by the RTA.


The Test


5. Set the microphone stand on the driver's seat, so that the microphone is 26 inches above the seat - roughly the position of the driver's ears.


6. Face the microphone toward the front of the dash.


7. Plug the microphone into the RTA.


8. Play the CD with pink noise through your sound system. Set the CD player to repeat the track.


9. Make sure that all the doors are closed.


10. Take the meter and stand outside the car when you run the test.


11. Put the RTA in the test mode. A graph will appear on its display. This graph is a visual reading of the sound of your system from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. The dots beside the bars that define the frequency display a sound level of either 1/10 or 3 dB. This helps you determine how much more sound level one frequency has over another. The RTA will print out a graph.


12. Use the graph to adjust your equalizer to eliminate the peaks and valleys and achieve a smooth transition from frequency to frequency.

Clean Clogged Inkjet Print Heads

A clogged inkjet print head can be a frustrating and expensive experience. The print head becomes clogged with dried ink, stopping the flow of ink onto the page. The problem usually arises when the printer is not used regularly. To clean a clogged inkjet print head, follow these steps.


Instructions


1. Use the printer's utility program to self-clean the printer. This process may need to be repeated as many as 5 to 10 times. Often this will resolve the problem.


2. Turn the printer off, preferably overnight, if the self-cleaning utility has not worked. The ink may need to soften before the self-cleaning utility will be successful. Turn the printer on and try the self-cleaning utility again several times.


3. Determine from the owner's manual where the print head is located. Epson printers, for example, are usually in the printer. Many other brands place the print head in the cartridge.


4. Remove the cartridge. For models where the print head is in the printer, drop seven to 10 drops of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) down the ink receptacle area. This is the hole where the ink flows into the head from the cartridge. Run a few self-cleaning utilities. If necessary, allow to sit a few hours or overnight and repeat the self-cleaning utility.


5. Soak the cartridge print head in hot water if the print head is in the cartridge. Allow to soak overnight. Dry the print head area with a paper towel. Repeat the self-cleaning utility.


6. Place the cartridge print head in isopropyl alcohol if the hot water soak did not unclog the print head. Leave the print head covered in alcohol overnight. Use a damp paper towel to wipe off the print head area. Dry carefully. Try the self-cleaning utility again.


7. Purchase a new cartridge if the alcohol soak did not unclog the print head in the cartridge. This will provide new print heads that won't be clogged. Contact a service technician for repair of print heads in the printer if the alcohol did not unclog the print head.

Nikon N80 Tutorial

The Nikon N80 is a film camera manufactured by Nikon.


The Nikon N80 was released by Nikon in February 2000, and was considered to be "one of the best 35mm film cameras for serious amateur photographers," according to Ken Rockwell, a known reviewer of photography equipment. The N80 was based on the semi-professional film body of the Nikon F100. The N80 has a built-in motor drive capable of advancing film at a rate of 2.5 frames per second, a flash sync speed of 1/125th of a second and accepts Nikkor auto-focus and manual focus lenses.


Instructions


1. Attach a lens of your choice and turn the camera on by rotating the collar switch that surrounds the shutter release on the camera.


2. Install a roll of film into the camera by opening the camera back and placing the film spool in the left side of the film cavity. Draw the leader across the back of the camera opening and feed it onto the take-up spool. Close the camera back, and the camera will automatically advance the film to the correct position.


3. Turn the dial on the top left of the camera to select the shooting mode you want to use. On the bottom front right of the camera is the "Focus Mode Selector" switch. If you have installed an auto-focus lens, this switch will place the camera into "Single" or "Continuous" focus mode. "Single" is best used for static subjects, and "Continuous" is best when your subject is moving.


4. Turn the round dial located just to the right of the viewfinder to select the middle position. This dial selects the metering mode for the camera. The middle setting is for Nikon's "3D Matrix" metering, where the camera will read the light for the entire scene and figure an average for exposure. The top setting is for "Center Weighted Average," where the camera assigns a higher value to the center of the viewfinder for determining exposure. The bottom setting is for "Spot Metering," which meters a specific point of the scene selected by the photographer.


5. Place your eye to the viewfinder and press the shutter release halfway down to activate the auto-focus system. If the picture still looks out of focus, you can adjust the viewfinder by moving the small vertical adjuster located just to the right of the viewfinder. This "Diopter Adjustment" is designed for individuals who wear glasses but prefer to shoot without them. It does not affect the focus of the lens, just the image in the viewfinder.


6. Place the camera to your eye again, and when you are satisfied with the view in the viewfinder, press the shutter release the entire way to take the picture.

Wire Speakers In Series With A Mono Amp

A mono amplifier typically only has one set of speaker outputs. It's possible to connect more than one speaker to a mono amp, but the user must decide whether to wire the speakers in parallel or in series. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, depending on your application. Series wiring doubles the resistance of the speakers you connect to the amplifier, so it is useful in cases where you don't want to drop the impedance of your speaker combination too low. When wiring speakers in series, you only need keep in mind the method. If you know that, and have a pair of wire cutters or strippers, you're in good shape.


Instructions


1. Identify the speaker terminals of your amplifier. These will be on the end or side of the amp and will be marked "Speaker Out," or less commonly, "Hi-level Out." Note that one will be marked "+" for positive and the other "-" for negative.


2. Cut three single strands of speaker wire. The first should be long enough to reach from the amp to the first speaker, the second from the first speaker to the second, and the third from the second speaker back to the amplifier. The distance will depend on where you've installed or located the amps and speakers. There's no set guideline---simply measure the distance.


3. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation off of both ends of each piece of speaker wire, using wire cutters or strippers.


4. Connect the first piece of wire from the positive terminal of the amplifier to the positive terminal of the first speaker. Connect the second piece of wire between the negative terminal of the first speaker and the positive terminal of the second speaker. Complete the circuit by connecting the third piece of wire between the negative terminal of the second speaker and the negative terminal of the amplifier. You've now wired two speakers in series to a mono amp.

Type


There are hundreds of types of camera filters for a variety of functions, including exposure, clarity and safety.


Choose a polarizing filter when photographing a reflective surface, such as water. A polarizing filter will allow you to see the fish, rocks and plants underneath the water's surface. They can also be useful for product and museum photography with glass display cases.


A UV, haze or sky filter will help clarify pictures. When photographing scenes from a distance, the haze in the air will be eliminated by these three types of filters. These are also the most commonly used filters to protect your lens and add an element of sharpness to the images.


Features


Camera filters are applied to the lens portion of an SLR film or digital camera. Filters are available in two physical shapes. The most common are the round glass pieces, fitted with a threaded-screw mount. The second filter shape is a square. These filters slide into a mount that is attached to the camera lens. This style of filter is made of plastic or glass.


Size


Each camera lens requires a specific size of filter. You cannot purchase one creative filter and expect it to fit on all of your lenses. Circular-style filters are measured in millimeters. A series of numbers with information about the lens is printed on the end of the camera lens. One of the numbers is the filter size for that specific lens. A 'o' symbol with a line through it is the symbol for filter. Look for a number next to that symbol, ending with mm.


Benefits


Camera filters are an easy way to enhance photos immediately. As the photograph is made, the features of the filter are applied. This eliminates post-production processes on the computer or at the computer lab.


Camera filters also work as a cheap insurance policy. Since they cover the end of your camera lens, they provide a layer of protection in the event of a drop. Camera filters range in price from $10-70. Replacing a filter is much less costly than replacing a damaged lens.


Risk Factors


Since some filters darken images to help enhance and saturate colors, it is easy to accidentally underexpose a photograph. You'll see an exposure guide on the filter package. In this case, the photographer will need to use their camera in a manual setting to adjust the aperture for a correct exposure.


Some filters require manual focusing. Soft-focus filters and polarizing filters work best when the photographer is manually adjusting the focus. An automatic focusing system can sometimes be fooled by filters.

Hookup Rcas To An Amp

RCA (Radio Corporation of America) is a manufacturer of consumer electronics, including television and stereo components. The company is known for its color-coded patch cords for connecting audio and video equipment. Until the advent of digital connections, the RCA-type plug was nearly the universal method of connecting audio gear and still is widely in use. Amplifiers for powering audio-video equipment are still manufactured with RCA plug jacks in addition to newer ports for connecting video devices with USB and HDMI (high definition media interface) jacks.


Instructions


Making the Connections


1. Disconnect all equipment from the power supply while hooking up the components.


2. Plug red and white audio cables into the jacks on the back of an audio or video component. The red plug inserts in the right output jack and the white plug inserts in the left. Both the plugs and outlets are color-coded.


3. Plug the other ends of the cables into the red and white audio Input jacks on the back of the amplifier or receiver. Use the connections labeled on the amp for that specific component. For example, connect the cables from a CD player to the input jacks marked CD on the back panel of the amplifier.


4. Work systematically to connect one component at a time. This prevents crossed wires and plugging cables into the wrong jacks.


5. Connect RCA video components such as a VCR, DVD or Blu-Ray player using the yellow plug for the video connection. Audio connections for these components are the same as for a CD player, turntable or tape deck; the only difference is an additional yellow cable for transmitting the video signal.


6. Plug the RCA components and the amplifier into a surge-protected power strip and plug the power strip into a wall outlet.

Send Mp3s To Your Lg290c Tracfone Free

The LG290C does not have an MP3 player for listening to music, but you can set an MP3 as a ringtone. In order to transfer the MP3 file into your phone, you will need to send it as an MMS message to a special email address from a computer. Unlike most cellular carriers, Tracfone does not have its own network. Tracfone contracts network services from other cellular carriers. In order to find out an address to which to send the MMS, you will need to find out which carrier Tracfone contracts with in your area.


Instructions


1. Find out which carrier is providing service for your Tracfone number. You can look up the carrier by using the Fone Finder tool under Resources. Type your phone number into the "Area Code, Prefix and 4 digits" boxes and click "Search by Number."


2. Look up the carrier's mobile gateway address using the chart under the Fone Finder link in the Resources section.


3. Compose an email and attach the MP3 file to the email. Send the email to the address listed for the carrier. In place of the "xxxxxxxxx", type your phone number. Do not use hyphens or symbols, and do not put a one in front of the number.


4. Open the MMS message on your LG2990C. Press the "Options" button, then select "Save to Media."


5. Open the main menu on the phone and select the media folder. Click on the MP3 you want to set as a ringtone. Click "Options" and select "Set as ringtone."

Connect An Equalizer To An Integrated Amp

While not as commonly used as they used to be, equalizers remain a popular option for fine-tuning home-audio systems' frequency response. Using an equalizer properly requires a lot of knowledge of your room specs, but you can easily connect the equalizer to your integrated amp, even if it lacks the Tape Loop function most equalizers depend on.


Instructions


Figure Out the Chain


1. Figure out the audio chain (how many components you have and how you plan to connect them) in your system. If your only source is a CD or DVD player, or if your integrated amp has preamp-out and preamp-in connections, you can easily make all of the necessary connections.


2. Connect your source component with one pair of RCA cables to the input of the graphic equalizer. Use cables long enough to allow you to place the equalizer in your rack.


3. Connect the output of the equalizer to the preamp input of your integrated amplifier with the second pair of RCA cables.


4. If you'll be connecting multiple components, you'll need an integrated amp with preamp out and in. Connect all components to the appropriate inputs on the integrated amplifier.


5. Connect a pair of RCA cables from the preamp output of your integrated amp to the input on your equalizer. Connect a second pair of RCA cables from the output of your equalizer to the preamp input of your integrated amplifier.

A silhouette movie presents outlined images against a light background that tell a story. Instructions


1. Film an indoor silhouette shot on a stage where the actors perform from behind a screen. Situate a light source behind the actors outside of the camera's view. A professional stage light facing forward casts the most prominent and recognizable images.


2. Include objects in the film with prominent outlines, such as large hats or musical instruments, and recognizable clothing, such as hoop skirts or football uniforms. Dancers, singers and interpretive-movement techniques contribute additional storytelling tools that engage the viewer.


3. Film scenes in the outdoors in the foreground of the most effective light source: the sun. A series of shots of buildings, trees, statues or sculptures in front of a rising or setting sun give the film a natural, less-stylized quality appropriate for certain types of emotions and content.

Align A Direct Tv Satellite Receiver

Most satellite TV providers offer specials to sign up (oftentimes on contract) with free installation; however, there can be problems after the free installation, and the satellite companies often will charge hefty fees for service calls if your dish gets knocked out of alignment. Many issues can be resolved through the onscreen menus, but sometimes you'll have to go old school and wrench on the little 18-inch wonder yourself. If you do, you'll need to arm yourself with some information before you climb up on the roof.


Instructions


1. Determine the elevation and azimuth for your area by visiting DirecTV's online calculator (see Resources section). The elevation is the up-and-down angle, while the azimuth is the side-to-side position. You can also find these settings in the onscreen menus of your DirecTV receiver.


2. Check the orientation of the mast to ensure that it is level, both front to back and side to side. Make adjustments using your level until you get a good reading.


3. Loosen the support sleeve nuts on the mounting bracket. This allows you to rotate the dish from side to side. Using a compass, dial in the correct setting according to your location and then tighten the nuts securely.


4. Loosen the elevation nut on the side of the dish mount. This allows you to tilt the dish up and down. There is a handy, mounted protractor to guide you to the correct angle. Always align the leftmost mark (not the nut) with the desired number on the protractor. Secure the nut and check to see that it didn't sag.


5. Check your signal strength using the onscreen guide for your receiver; make small adjustments as necessary.

Install A Toshiba Dlp Lamp

Give your Toshiba DLP projection TV or home theater projector more years of life with a replacement bulb. Whether you need to replace a lamp in your rear- or front-projecting Toshiba product, the process---when handled carefully and deliberately---won't interrupt your home theater viewing experience for more than a few minutes. Then you'll be back to enjoying your favorite movies and television programming.


Instructions


Installation in Toshiba DLP Projectors


1. Turn off your projector. After the projector has cooled off, turn off its power switch, disconnect its power cable and sit it upside down on your work surface. Allot your Toshiba projector about one hour for the lamp to cool.


2. Loosen the embedded screw securing the lamp cover with a Phillips-head screwdriver, and then pry the right side of the lamp cover up with a flat-head screwdriver.


3. Use your Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the lamp into the lamp socket. Lift the lamp out of the socket by its handle.


4. Use a microfiber cloth to handle the new lamp. Holding the lamp by its handle, insert the replacement into the lamp socket with the same alignment as the previously installed lamp.


5. Press the replacement lamp firmly into the lamp socket and secure it with the screws removed from the previous lamp. Replace the lamp cover, and tighten its embedded screw.


Installation in Toshiba DLP Projection Televisions


6. Turn off your Toshiba projection TV, remove the TV's power plug from the wall outlet and then allot the lamp approximately one hour to cool before proceeding.


7. Locate the lamp cover---usually on the bottom left side of your Toshiba projection TV---and then remove the screw securing the lamp door. Remove the lamp cover to expose the blown lamp.


8. Remove the two screws at the bottom of the lamp, and then pull the lamp out of the television by its handle. Use a microfiber cloth to handle the removal of the old lamp.


9. Use the microfiber cloth to insert the replacement bulb. Slowly, but firmly, push the replacement into its slot, with the lamp's handle side of the bulb at the bottom.


10. Secure the new lamp into place with the screws taken from the old lamp. Replace the lamp cover and screw.
