SD and SDHC cards are used in electronic devices, such as digital cameras.


The SD memory card specification allows for the creation of easily portable memory cards that are compatible with more than 400 devices. SD Cards

Available Sizes


Both SD and SDHC cards are available in three different size configurations. Standard size SD and SDHC cards are 32mm x 24mm in size with a thickness of 2.1mm. MiniSD and miniSDHC cards are 21.5mm x 20mm with a thickness of 1.4mm. MicroSD and microSDHC cards are 15mm x 11mm in size and 1mm thick. Mini and micro SD and SDHC cards are available at the same capacities as the standard cards of each format. Standard cards feature a 9-pin interface, micro cards feature an 11-pin interface and mini cards feature an 8-pin interface for connecting with devices. Write protection is available on standard-sized SD and SDHC cards, but not on mini or micro cards. Adapters are available which enable mini and micro cards to be used with standard-sized devices.


Speed Classes


SD and SDHC cards both make use of the standard Speed Class categorization for the SD card interface. The Speed Class of a card indicates the rate at which it transfers data; cards can have a Speed Class of 2, 4 or 6 for standard-speed transfers or 10 for high-speed transfers. SDHC cards can also be used in devices which support UHS Speed Class 1, a faster transfer class that standard SD cards are not compatible with.

Convert Megapixels To Dpi

Calculating dots per inch, or dpi, from megapixels, or mgp, may seem complicated. Cameras offer anywhere from two megapixels to more than 10 megapixels, and sometimes refer to "pixels per inch" (ppi) instead. Toss those numbers and terms aside, however, when all that's needed is a simple calculation to convert megapixels to dots per inch.


Instructions


1. Determine the maximum image size (horizontal and vertical) in pixels for the camera. Most cameras state the number of megapixels right on the case. This is the product of multiplying the maximum width in pixels by the maximum height of an image in pixels and dividing by 1 million. The numbers are usually in the owner's manual or on the manufacturer's website. For example, a camera that takes 2,048-pixels wide x 1,436-pixels high equals 2,940,928 pixels. Divide by 1 million and you get 2.9 megapixels.


2. Determine the size at which a photo is to be printed. Divide the width in pixels by the width in inches. The quotient is the number of dots per inch. Repeat the task with the height in pixels by the height in inches. The dpi numbers should be approximately the same. For example, a 2,048-pixel image to be printed 10-inches wide has a printed resolution of 204.8 dpi.


3. Increase the photo quality by increasing the number of dots per inch. In other words, printing photos at smaller sizes will make the quality better, as the dpi will be higher.


4. Control the dpi with the output device---a printer or digital-document converter settings (as when making a PDF)


When a printer is set to 120 dpi, for example, the digital publisher knows that the maximum image size is 25 inches by 17 inches: The 3,008 pixel width and 2,000 pixel height are both divided by 120 to calculate the size in inches.

The DBS system is well suited for small businesses.


The Panasonic Digital Business System phones are designed for small business usage. The DBS phones have hold and call transfer functionality, and come in three different cabinet sizes. The phone also features programmable function keys and speed dial capability. It can be used to dial internal numbers, as well as outside lines. Learning to operate the Panasonic DBS without the manual can be a confusing process, but learning the basic functions will foster a general familiarity with the controls.


Instructions


Calls


1. Press a free "Line" key if your model includes them. The "Line" keys are located beside the large display screen on all VBD models. The LED beside the key will flash green to indicate that the line has been selected. If a line's LED is red, it is in use by another phone in your network.


2. Press the "On/Off" button if your model doesn't include "Line" keys. The "On/Off" key is located directly above the "Hold" button, in the bottom right hand corner of the DBS unit. Dial "88" into the number-pad, followed by a line number (between one and forty-eight). If you are dialing a one-digit number, place a "0" before it. The display will show the line you have selected, and you will hear the dial tone for an outside line.


3. Enter the phone number you wish to call on the number-pad. The DBS unit will dial the number. The volume will go through the main speaker until you pick up the receiver.


4. Press the "Hold" key to place the other party on hold. Pressing the "Hold" key will place the call on "System Hold," which means it can be retrieved by any user in your system. This can be useful for a small business, because you can converse with another employee while the other party is on hold or have a colleague best equipped to help the caller take over if necessary. To retrieve the call, anyone on the system can select the held line. The LED beside the line will flash red.


5. Press the "Line" key for your current call to place the other party on "Exclusive Hold." This means that no one other than yourself will be able to pick up the call. The line LED will flash green to indicate that the call has been put on "Exclusive Hold."


6. To perform a call transfer, dial the extension number while the call is on hold. The DBS will open up a new line, and dial the number you've entered. Introduce the caller to your colleague, then hang up the receiver to complete the transfer.


7. Hang up the receiver at any point to end the call. If you are conducting the call through the speaker-phone, press the "On/Off" button to end the call.

Use A Pentax K110d Camera

The Pentax K110D is an easy to use entry-level DSLR.


The K110D is a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera first produced by the Pentax company in 2006. Revered for their classic SLR film cameras such as the ME Super and the K1000, Pentax has been a major name in the photographic market since being founded in 1919. Marketed toward the novice and amateur photographer the K110D pairs simple, straightforward operation with quality internal components. Instructions


1. Open the battery compartment cover on the underside of the camera and insert two fresh AA batteries. Close the compartment so that it clicks into place.


2. Slide the memory card cover, located on the right side of the camera body, outward and away from the camera to open it. Insert an SD memory card or ensure that there is already one inserted into the slot. Close the cover.


3. Hold your K110D in front of you and acquaint yourself with all of the dials, buttons and knobs on your camera. Use the visual diagrams located in the operating manual for assistance.


4. Turn the main switch, located on the top right of the camera body, to the "ON" position.


5. Begin shooting by moving the mode dial, located on the top left side of the camera body, to "AUTO PICT." Also move the small lever on the left side of the lens barrel to "AF" for autofocus. This sets the K110D to fully automatic mode, meaning that the camera's sensor and light meter chooses the best combination of shutter speed and aperture (size of lens opening) for an accurate exposure. As you progress in your photography, experiment with the other modes on the dial for more involvement in the photo-taking process.


6. Review your images by pressing the "PLAY" button in the lower left corner of the camera's rear panel. Scroll through the images using the directional arrows on the right side of the rear panel. To switch pack to shooting mode, depress the shutter button halfway.


7. Remove the lens by depressing the small button toward the bottom of the lens barrel and rotating it clockwise. Reattach the lens by aligning the red guide dots on the lens and the mount thread. Rotate it counterclockwise until it clicks into place.

1. Get a blank video tape. You can buy one brand-new, or just recycle and use one you find around the house. Be sure you're not grabbing the video of your wedding or your first baby's birth, however!


2. Gather together your camcorder's S-video or RCA cables. An S-video cable is a single-ended, round-tipped cable with several little prongs. RCA cables have three ends, red, yellow and white, and will likely have matching color coding on the device you'll connect it to.


3. Locate the video input/output connectors on your television. Newer televisions have them on the front of the TV, as well as on the back (like many older models only have).


4. Attach the connectors accordingly. In the case of RCA cables, red to red, yellow to yellow, white to white.


5. Place the destination VHS tape into your VCR and make sure it is turned on.

What To Do If Your Coffee Maker Smells Like Vinegar

Vinegar has a strong odor that intensifies when it's heated. The strong smell may be unpleasant and linger in the air and on household surfaces, including in coffee makers, which can make coffee taste or smell like vinegar. Causes


The most common reasons for a coffee maker to smell like vinegar are cleaning with vinegar, and acidic buildup. Solution

Fill the coffee maker with fresh water, turn it on and allow it to make a pot of hot water. Continue running clean water through the coffee maker until it no longer smells like vinegar.


Prevention


Run half a pot of white distilled vinegar through the coffee pot once a month to eliminate and prevent residue buildup. Then make a minimum of five pots of hot water in the coffee maker to remove any remaining vinegar.

2. Choose the picture on which you want to correct the red eye. To do this, either double click on the picture to open the editing window or click once on the picture and then click "Edit" at the bottom of the task bar.


3. When the picture is opened in the editing window, click the "Red-Eye" button from the bottom task bar. You will receive a message that directs you "To remove red eye, click the center of each eye."


4. Take your cursor and click in each eye (or one, depending on the problem) to see the red eye removed.


5. Once you are satisfied that the red-eye reduction is complete, click "Done" at the bottom of the task bar. Your edited picture will be saved in place of the old one.

Locate A Hidden Gps Device

You can keep yourself from being tracked by a GPS device with a bit of know-how.


A GPS (global positioning system) device can be used to track your location anywhere you go. The devices are small enough to be attached to a car or even planted in your purse or backpack without you knowing. If you are afraid that someone may have planted a GPS device on you, there a few ways to locate it.


Instructions


1. Do a thorough check of your car. This is the obvious place to hide a GPS device. Check underneath the carriage of your vehicle, behind the bumpers, in the glove compartment and under the seats. Make sure to use a mirror in hard to reach areas. Look for a box that is approximately the size of a deck of cards. It is probably black or gray in color. It may be attached to your car with a magnet. If you find it, turn it off and remove the battery.


2. Look through your bags and backpacks. Nowadays, GPS devices are small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Thus, they can be hidden in other items and disguised as another object. Look through everything in your bags and make sure that there is nothing inside that is unfamiliar.


3. Buy a GPS radio frequency detector (see Resources). This scans for devices that are broadcasting on a specific frequency such as a GPS. Detectors cost $150 to $499, as of October 2010.


4. Turn the device on and wave it around your vehicle and personal items . The GPS detector will begin blinking or beeping when it detects a transmission. It will detect devices within 30 feet.


5. Remove the GPS device once you find it, turn it off and take out the battery. This will keep it from transmitting your location.

What Is A Flooded Burial Coax Cable

Coaxial cables are used in a variety of applications, such as cable television cabling or antennas. For placement underground or near other wiring that can harbor interference, flooded burial coaxial cable is a smart choice.


Significance


The layers of a flooded burial coaxial cable give it the durability needed for the applications at hand. Become A Movie Director

Directing movies is exciting and artistically fulfilling--and it can be a big headache. You direct every step of a movie: auditioning and rehearsing actors, supervising the crew and having the final say on scenery and music. You have to stay on schedule, stay within your budget and stay sane when the cast and crew are melting down. According to the Filmmaking Web site (see Resources), the most respected U.S. film schools include the University of California at Los Angeles, the University of Southern California, the American Film Institute and New York University.


2. Move to Los Angeles or New York to get close to the action.


3. Get your foot in the door as an intern or assistant producer on a movie set (see 161 Set Up an Internship). You may not get paid, but you'll gain valuable skills, experience and contacts.


4. Develop your craft, gain as much experience as possible, learn like crazy and work your way up to film editor. When you have some clips to your name and start pulling down a salary, you can begin showing your work to people in the industry.


5. Enroll in a training program for assistant directors, run by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and the Directors Guild of America. (Click on "Training Program" at the Directors Guild Web site, see Resources). You'll get experience handling extras, transporting equipment and making arrangements for food and accommodations. Some companies allow you to shadow a director, which gives you valuable on-the-job training as well.


6. Think small at first. Directing music videos, educational films or commercials is a good way to get experience.


7. Raise money to make an independent film. It's much cheaper than it used to be, thanks to advances in digital technology. Enter your film in festivals and pray you get discovered.


8. Become a well-known actor and step behind the camera to direct your own movies.


9. Become a stage director and make the movie version of your latest hit.

Take A Light Reading

Take a Light Reading


Light readings help the photographer or cinematographer select camera settings, such as aperture and shutter speed, that will result in an image with proper exposure. A handheld or in-camera light meter is used to make a reading. Depending on lighting conditions, one type of reading may be more accurate than another. A reflected light reading measures the intensity of light reflected off a subject while while incident metering measures the strength of the light source itself. Spot metering, as the name implies, measures light from a specific area in the scene.


Instructions


Making a Reflected or Incident Reading


1. Locate your subject. If you are working under tricky lighting conditions, select which part of your subject requires proper exposure.


2. Hold your meter two to three inches from your subject at a 90-degree angle to make a reflected light reading.


3. Operate the meter's controls if necessary. Manual meters require you to rotate a dial to arrive at the recommended exposure settings. New digital models are mostly automatic and will produce settings on an LCD display screen.


4. Stand near your subject and point the meter toward the light source to make an incident reading. Repeat Step 3 if applicable.


5. Read the meter's recommended settings and adjust your camera accordingly.


Making a Spot Reading


6. Point your meter, or your camera if it has a built-in spot meter, at your scene.


7. Look through the viewfinder of your meter or camera and move the metering spot to the part of the scene that requires proper exposure.


8. Interface with your meter if necessary.


9. Read the recommended settings from the viewfinder screen and adjust your camera accordingly.

Unlock A 3g Phone

The iPhone is configured to work in a specific manner dictated by Apple. Unlocking an iPhone 3G enables user-created programs to be displayed on the cell phone. The procedure has been simplified due to the use of an online unlocking program that can be accessed from any web browser. The free iTunes program used to sync an iPhone on a Mac or personal computer is also needed. The unlocked iPhone can be restored to its original state later if the user desires to do so.


Instructions


1. Connect the cable to the iPhone. Connect the other end of the iPhone cable to a universal serial bus (USB) port on the Mac or personal computer. Wait for the icon of the iPhone to appear on the desktop.


2. Launch the iTunes program that is included with a Mac and provided as a free download for personal computer users by double-clicking its icon inside of the "Applications" folder (Mac) or by selecting it from the "Start," "All Applications" pop-up menu.


3. Right-click on the icon of the iPhone in the left column of the iTunes program beneath the "Devices" tab. Select "Back Up" from the pop-up menu. Wait as a progress bar fills in from left to right at the top of the iTunes program.


4. Go to a free iPhone unlocking website, for example, the JailBreakMe website (see Resources). Follow the onscreen menus to configure the backup for the iPhone 3G. Press the "Jailbreak" button on the website to unlock the iPhone 3G.


5. Wait as the iPhone 3G downloads a series of programs and reboots itself a number of times. Disconnect the iPhone cable from the iPhone and from the Mac when a confirmation window on the website states that it is time to do so. Exit the iTunes program.

Rca Wireless Headphone Problems

Consumers have reported many problems with the RCA WHP wireless headphones. The most common complaints are background noise, inability to hold a signal, uncomfortable fit and breakage of the headphone straps.


Background Noise

Plastic Lens Camera Alternatives

You might think using plastic lenses on cameras in these days of high technology is retro and might not produce the best images. You would be right, but both of these reasons is what makes plastic lens cameras an alternative to the ultra-sharp images you can get on a digital single-lens reflex camera.


Lensbaby


The glass for the lens elements in modern SLR camera lenses is some of the best, sharpest and clearest ever made. It records what you point your camera at in exquisite detail. Which is great, but not always what you want. For example, if you are taking a portrait of a pretty woman against a backdrop of flowers outside, if she isn't far away from the background, she and the flowers both will be in focus. This may detract from the portrait. Use a Lensbaby, instead, which is a plastic lens without a focusing ring that will fit on your SLR. Focus it by pulling it toward you with both hands. Pull it to one side to focus on the woman; the other side will remain out of focus and give the flowers a soft effect.


Holga


Use the entirely plastic Holga camera as another alternative. This camera was made for the booming market in China in the 1980s. It has a fixed-focus plastic lens, light leaks and other problems, and uses 120 film. It may be the worst camera available, and that's why it has such a following. Even the company claims no two Holga cameras are exactly alike. Because of the poor quality of the plastic lens, you can get extraordinary photos, images that you may not have conceived of. Light flares may occur and different portions of the image may fade to fuzzy. If you use color film, the lens may give you colors you don't expect.


Harinezumi


The third alternative is the Digital Harinezumi by Superheadz. It actually is a digital camera, but with all the low-end aspects of a Holga. While there is an LCD screen, use it to view photos shot. Frame photos with the plastic square on top. It basically is point-and-shoot. It has low saturation and a less-than-sharp image. Use it to shoot video clips that will end up looking a bit like old 8mm film.

Electronic flashes provide the right amount of light required to take a clear picture at a fast shutter speed. However, sometimes the flash might not work as you expect. For example, if the "ZOOM" feature has a default setting to "AUTO," you might not get the results you need. Many flashes come with a "wide panel" feature that slides out from the electronic flash. If it malfunctions, it will need to be disabled. You can make adjustments and repair your electronic flash in a few quick and easy steps.

1. View the control panel display for warning messages. Refer to your user manual to interpret the symbols on the display screen, then follow the suggested recommendations.


2. Switch the flash settings that are in "AUTO" mode to "Manual." Most electronic flash settings are accessible by pressing the "MODE" button and turning a setting selection dial.

Compare Hdtv Formats 720p And 1080i

It is very difficult for a broadcaster to beam both 720p and 1080i formats considering the expenses and bandwidth it calls for. So, how does one format differ from the other and how does it impact the viewing experience? Find out through the following steps.


Instructions


1. Understand the process of television broadcast. A picture is first electrically scanned and then each line of the scan is converted and beamed on to a receiver in the form of an electrical signal. The receiver decodes the signal back to the scan lines and puts the picture together on your screen.


2. Analyze how the 720p format works. A 720p line consists of 720 lines, each line made up of 1,280 pixels. These 720 lines create a frame and about 60 such frames are broadcast every second. This is called a progressive-scan format and is denoted by the letter 'p'.


3. Analyze how the 1080i format works. A 1080i line consists of 1,440 to 1,920 pixels. These 1080 lines together form a frame. Unlike 710p, 1080i broadcasts only 30 frames per second. This interlaced scanning format is denoted by the letter 'i'.


4. Study the strengths of both the formats. The 720p is perfect for fast moving action, especially sports, while the 1080i is better suited for observing still images in detail like photographs.


5. Analyze the picture quality of both the formats. The 720p offers more brightness and a higher contrast ratio than the 1080i, thus making for a better viewing experience.

Make A Custom Sub Enclosure

Sometimes a regular subwoofer enclosure just won't get the job done. The dimensions of your car may not allow you to use one, or perhaps you'd like to build something that is a perfect fit for your particular car audio setup. Here's build your own custom enclosure.


Instructions


Make a Custom Sub Enclosure


1. Choose your subwoofer. You'll pick your subwoofer based on the amplifier you're teaming it up with, your budget, your preference in music, and your own unique sense of style.


2. Determine the cubic volume needs of your subwoofer. The literature that comes with your subwoofer will give you a specific set of guidelines as the the cubic volume that the subwoofer will work best with. This will determine the volume of your subwoofer enclosure.


3. Measure your possible mounting locations in the car. Determining where you'll want to put your custom subwoofer enclosure provides you with some important baseline measurements to work with. For example if your width or height is restricted, you won't want to exceed those dimensions when you design the box.


4. Sketch out your box design. Using the measurements you took in the previous steps, sketch out several enclosure possibilities and determine the cubic volume of each. To do this, simply multiply the width by height by depth in inches and divide by 1728 -- this will give you the volume in cubic feet.


5. Cut your MDF fiberboard to make the separate pieces of your box. In the front panel, cut the opening for the subwoofer. Most subwoofers come with a template that allows you to make an accurate and round hole for the subwoofer. In the side of the box nearest the amplifier, make a hole to mount your speaker terminal cup into.


6. Assemble your box from the cut pieces of wood, using carpenters wood glue and wood screws. Caulk the inside of the box when you're done to ensure that it is airtight.


7. Cut and place the box carpet onto the box. A hot glue gun works very well for this. Add the speaker terminal cup and wire the internal wiring, connecting it to the subwoofer. Then mount the subwoofer into the opening. Enjoy your handiwork by cranking up some of your favorite tunes.

How Does Broadband Work

Definition of Broadband


Broadband is a form of high-speed internet, which is better than dial-up connection. Broadband provides an "always on" and faster connection to the internet.


Types of Broadband


There are a wide variety of broadband technologies available in a lot of areas where they are provided by service providers, the most commonly used types are ADSL,wireless, cable and satellite broadbands. These four types of broadbands all use higher bandwidth than dial-up. Higher bandwidth would mean faster connectitivy and more data can be transferred.


ADSL


The same cables are used to connect the Internet and the telephone when connecting via ADSL broadband. A phone socket filter is added to the phone line which then converts the signal into two separate signals, one for internet access and the other for telephone service. This is why you can still use your telephone even when you are connected to the internet using the same line, unlike dial-up connections wherein you would have to have separate connections if you want to be able to talk on the phone and be on the internet at the same time.


Wireless or WiFi


Wireless broadband is similar in technology with a difference only of picking up the connection wirelessly or without using cable wires or network cables.


This is the type of broadband connection used by laptop and hand-held device users so that these devices can be carried anywhere around the house where signals can be picked up easily for internet connections.


The way Wi-Fi works that it converts the internet data into a radio signal which is then picked up by each wireless device such as laptop and gaming console, in the house using a a wireless card and Wi-Fi adapter.


Cable


Cable can provide digital TV, internet and phone service. This can be easily set-up by your cable service provider by using a set-top-box using a cable modem.


Satellite


Satellite broadband either works via a 'one way' or 'two way' link.


The one way link works by a satellite sending information to your computer using a satellite dish. You still need a phone line in order to click on a link using a normal dial-up connection because there is no way you can send signal back to the satellite. The only advantage this one has over a dial-up connection is that you can download information at high speed.


With a 'two way' link you can do both using the satellite, you can transmit and receive data at the same time without having the need to use a phone line. This is a faster method of the two. The reason why satellite broadband is not as popular as ADSL and cable because it can be costly to install and may be affected by weather conditions.

Problems With Mini DV Tapes


MiniDV camcorders are one of the most popular types of camcorders on the market today. MiniDV camcorders all record video to small MiniDV tapes. Sometimes those MiniDV tapes have problems. Here are a few of the most common MiniDV tape problems and what to do about them.


Eaten Tape


Sometimes the internal mechanisms of a MiniDV camera will malfunction, causing your tape to be "eaten" much like a VHS tape might have been eaten by your VCR. If you catch the damage early on you may be able to wind the tape back into the cassette and save the footage. If a good bit of the tape has been crumpled, then your best bet is to send the tape off to a audio/video repair store to be fixed. Most of those stores can also simultaneously backup your video to a DVD so you won't lose it again.


No Tape


Sometimes your camcorder may give an error message saying there is no tape inserted when you have just put in a new tape. if that is the case try removing the tape and then reinserting it into the camera.


Record Inhibited


MiniDV tapes have a small switch on the side that locks them against further footage being recorded onto them. The idea behind the switch is that if you record something important you can turn the switch to prevent yourself from accidentally taping over your footage. The switch can also occasionally be accidentally tripped. If you get the message on your camcorder that recording has been prevented, check the side of the tape and make sure the switch is moved to the "unlocked" position.


Broken


MiniDV tapes are made of plastic and therefore can be easily broken if they are stepped on, run over with by a car or mistaken for a bone by your dog. if your MiniDV tape casing becomes broken the best plan of action is to take the tape to your local audio/video repair shop to get the tape repaired. Any "repairs" you try to do yourself at home are likely to further destroy the tape rather than repair it.


Dirty


It is easy to get sand or other debris inside your tape cassette, as well as accidentally sit your tapes into something less than desirable that might soil the outside of the case. For external problems, use a lightly moistened paper towel or cloth to remove debris. For internal debris, try opening the top of the tape and shaking out anything that might be inside. You can also use a can of compressed air to lightly remove debris. Do not stick your fingers or other apparatus inside the tape or you may damage your footage.

3. Visit your provider's website via a computer with an Internet connection, and check to ensure your pictures are there.


4. Enter your email address, and choose the option that allows them to be sent via email. You can also choose to have the pictures sent to a photo lab, where they can be printed.

Garmin'S Nuvi 350 Gps Unit

The Garmin nuvi 350 is one of the automotive Global Positioning System navigators from Garmin Ltd., a company that specializes in manufacturing GPS products. It is part of the nuvi 300 or 3xx series, which once served as one of the entry-level line-ups of the nuvi family. The nuvi 350 was released in 2005. Even though it has since been discontinued, customers can still buy the nuvi 350 at some online retail stores.


General Description


Each Garmin nuvi 350 comes with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps --- both in two- and three-dimensional form --- and a points-of-interest database that includes ATM machines, gas stations, hotels, restaurants and the like. The voice directions announce the name of the exits and the streets to turn on, and the device enables users to shorten travel time and distance by avoiding certain routes. The nuvi 350 also has travel tools, such as an MP3 player, a world travel clock, a currency and measurement unit converter, a calculator and a picture viewer.


Physical Description and Battery


Each Garmin nuvi 350 measures 3.87 inches in width, 2.91 inches in height and 0.87 inches in depth, while weighing 5.1 ounces. Its anti-glare thin-film transistor touch screen has a white backlight and a display resolution of 320 by 240 pixels. The measurements are a 3.5-inch diagonal, 2.8-inch width and 2.1-inch height. Each device bears a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides up to eight hours of battery life.


Status


As part of Garmin's nuvi 3xx series, the nuvi 350 falls in the middle of the line-up. Thus it is placed above the nuvi 300 and 310, yet below the 360 and 370. Unlike the nuvi 350, the 300 and 310 navigators do not provide street names in their voice directions, and they were only available in Europe. The only advantage of the nuvi 360 and 370 over the 350 is the addition of Bluetooth wireless technology.


Pricing and Availability


When it made its debut, the Garmin nuvi 350 had a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $969. As of April 2011, Garmin has stopped production of the 350, as well as other entries of the 300 series. Nuvi 350s are still available with a price range of around $50 to $300 at online retailers.

Copy 8 Mm Films Onto Dvd

You can convert your 8mm film to DVD.


A film projector is required to view 8mm film strips, which are placed on thin reels. This makes it difficult to showcase the material to friends and family members, especially when you are not at home. To fix this problem, you can copy the 8mm film onto a DVD. Although some film processing companies do provide this option for a fee, you can convert the formats yourself, as long as you have the necessary equipment.


Instructions


1. Set up the 8mm film projector and point it at the projection surface (such as a projection screen or white wall). Turn on the projector so you can see the outline of the entire projection area.


2. Position the digital video camera directly under the projector. Zoom in with the lens until the projection area completely fills up the camera lens.


3. Play the film strip, then press "Record" on the video camera. The 8mm film is now saved as a digital file into the camera. Press "Stop" on the camera at any time to stop the recording.


4. Plug the USB data cable into the USB port on the computer, then insert the opposite end of the cable into the USB port on the video camera. Click "Start," "Computer" then double-click the video camera icon. This loads a window with all the available saved video files. Click and drag the 8mm file you recorded onto the desktop.


5. Insert the blank DVD into the DVD burner of the computer, then close out the AutoPlay window that loads onto the screen. Launch the DVD burning program you use (typically Ulead DVD, Nero DVD or Roxio), then select "Video DVD" as the burn format. Click-and-drag the imported video file into the open window, then click "Burn" to create the video DVD.

Power Amplifier Tutorial

Home audio power amplifiers come in a wide variety of configurations and circuits, and can have a significant overall impact on the sound of your stereo. While many consumers think watts are an important measurement, watts are misleading, because it is simply a function of voltage multiplied by current. While two amplifiers may both measure 100 watts, for instance, one with a better power supply will be able to supply high current and high voltage and avoid clipping, and thereby sound much better.


Tubes


Tubed power amplifiers, which dominated the home audio industry up till the 1960s, came back into vogue in the 1990s. Many audiophiles feel that tubes, which may have higher distortion measurements than solid state amplifiers, produce an even order distortion which doesn't sound as bad to the human ear as solid state type distortion. Tubes will need to be replaced now and then, and that can be expensive.


Solid state


Solid state amplifiers, which use transistors, became popular in the late '60s and early '70s, in part because tube circuits were very unreliable. Solid state amps run cooler, and tend to have better control over bass frequencies than tube amps, which are more noted for a magical sounding mid-range. Solid state circuits are also less efficient than tube circuits.


Circuit types


Amplifiers are available in a variety of circuit types, including Class A, Class B, Class AB, and Class D. Tube amps can also employ single-ended triode designs, ultra-linear designs, and more. A Class A circuit is less efficient, but produces very little distortion. A Class A amp reproduces the entire input wave at the output end. A Class B amp is more efficient because it idles at zero current, whereas Class A conducts the same amount of current all the time. Class AB amps split the difference, helping to eliminate crossover distortion; in a Class AB amp, one circuit or tube is driven until the plate cuts it off, when it switches to the other. Class AB designs are the most popular for high-end stereo power amplifiers. A Class D amplifier is different, in that the output stage switches between "on" and "off" states, so the current is either running or not. The amplifier can be controlled by analog or digital circuits; because the output stages are sometimes "off," smaller heatsinks can be used, and the amplifiers themselves are smaller.


With tube amplifiers, single-ended triode amps use a single triode to produce an output, and operate in Class A. They typically have a lower power output, but many audiophiles praise their midrange clarity. An ultralinear design uses beam tetrodes or pentodes, and has taps on the output transformers. The taps connect to the screens of the tubes, driving the tubes with part of the output signal and lowering the overall distortion significantly. Ultralinear designs are used in tube amps with higher power outputs.

2. Open the RC-8000 remote's battery compartment cover if your receiver doesn't turn on, as the issue is likely with the remote. Check that you inserted any new batteries correctly -- with the polarity marks on the batteries matching those in the compartment. Reposition or replace the batteries as needed and then try the remote again.


3. Stand closer to the receiver -- within 22 feet -- if the remote still won't turn it on. Make certain that no obstructions such as people or furniture block the remote signal or the remote sensor.


4. Check the AC power cord connections at the back right side of your unit and at the wall or surge protector electrical sockets if the unit didn't turn on in Step 1 or still won't turn on after using the remote control. Push any loose plugs into the sockets. Replace any damaged cords.


5. Plug another device into each wall or surge protector electrical socket to confirm that the sockets are working if you can't find any problems with the cords. If a socket isn't working, check the circuit breakers, repair the socket on your own or hire an electrician to evaluate and fix the issue.


6. Move your unit from its current location to an area away from bright light or other electronics. Bright light can interfere with both the remote control signal and the remote sensor's ability to pick up the signal. Some electronics transmit electromagnetic signals that can also interfere with the remote control and sensor or cause the unit to stop working correctly.

Is There A Selftimer On The Canon Powershot

Canon PowerShot point-and-shoot cameras have several options for taking photographs, all of which help you control the conditions under which a photo is taken. A feature that many casual photographers look for in a point-and-shoot camera is a self-timer, which controls a delay between when the shutter button is pressed and when the camera shoots the picture.


Self-timer Uses


The most common reason to use the self-timer on a Canon PowerShot camera is to include yourself in a photograph. A 10-second delay after you press the shutter button gives you time to put yourself in the picture. You can also use the self-timer to reduce camera shake caused by the act of pressing the shutter button, particularly if conditions dictate that the shutter speed will be slow. Although it doesn't take much effort to press the shutter button, any camera shake can blur the image.


Delay Options


The Canon PowerShot self-timer allows you to set both the length of the delay before the shutter is triggered and the number of pictures the camera will take after the delay. The maximum delay is 30 seconds. You can set the camera to take up to 10 pictures after the delay.


Timer Settings


The navigation button on the back of many Canon PowerShot cameras has clock symbol on it, indicating the self-timer feature. Press the down navigation button to access the self-timer settings screen. On cameras without a self-timer button, press the "Func./Set" button to access the main menu. Press the navigation buttons to highlight the clock symbol and access the self-timer settings.


Shooting with the Self-Timer


Set the camera on a steady surface or tripod, and frame the picture. Hold the camera in your hands to frame the picture if you are attempting to reduce camera shake and don't want to use a steady surface. Press the shutter button halfway to focus, and then press it fully to start the timer. The camera takes the picture after the set delay.

Replace A Camera Lens

Many photographers use multiple lenses to produce different photo results with 35-millimeter film and digital SLR cameras. This requires frequent lens swapping while shooting photos. Replacing a camera lens on your camera tends to be a fairly easy task if you follow the instructions for your particular camera. Following the correct steps will not only protect your camera, but it will also ensure you don't get foreign particles inside your expensive lenses.


Instructions


Handling and Lens Replacement


1. Locate your replacement lens and remove the rear cap. Make sure not to get any particles inside the lens or to touch the glass. Put the replacement lens either on a table or have it ready to pull out of your camera bag.


2. Place your camera on a table or have it strapped around your neck. Hold the camera by the body. Locate the trigger on the side of the lens connected to the camera body. Release the lens lock in the camera body by pressing the lock button. Twist the lens clockwise until it releases from the camera body. Put the lens on the table or in your camera bag, and insert the replacement lens into the camera body. Turn it counterclockwise until it locks into place.


3. Take the lens you removed and place the front lens cap if missing. Place the rear lens cap from the replacement lens on the back of the removed lens. Put the removed lens in your camera bag, in a lens case or in safe location in your office or home. Make sure it doesn't sit were it can be knocked over or dropped.


4. Test your replacement lens by turning on the camera and focusing on an object. Make sure the replacement lens responds to the auto-focus direction when you click once on your camera trigger button. Take photos as desired.

Convert 35mm Slides To Digital Photos

35mm slide conversion process.


Transferring old 35mm slides to digital format not only will preserve the originals but offers ways to enhance them as well. It can be a time consuming operation, although with practice and the right equipment, the time per slide can be reduced to less than 30 seconds. Editing and improving the appearance may take longer. Converting slides to digital images does not require an expensive scanner; equipment under $100 will do the job. However, for the highest quality end result, more costly dedicated film scanners are needed. In either case, good photo editing software is a must to clean up the scanned results.


Instructions


1. Remove any protective sheet from the glass cover of the scanner if there is one to expose the film guide.


2. Remove or tilt out the film guide from the cover for access and open the film holder on the guide.


3. Insert the slides into the film guide. If there are not sufficient slides to fill the guide, block the uncovered parts with a shield to prevent extra light from spoiling the scan. Then replace the film guide in the scanner cover. It may take some experimentation to ensure the image will be scanned with the correct orientation.


4. Open the photo editing software on the computer and choose color or black and white and negative or positive film depending on the type of slide. Identify the number of slides being scanned; adjust any desired settings for output resolution and size. Start the scanning process.


5. Save the images in TIFF or JPEG format to the computer. TIFF format is best for archival storage since it preserves all the data, while JPEG compresses data resulting in some possible degradation of the image if it is reused and saved often.

When you purchase satellite radio for your home, you'll receive a receiver that transmits the radio stations from a satellite dish to your satellite radio devices. Watch the indicator as you tilt the S50 and stop once you have full signal strength. 3. Remove anything that could obstructing the S50's reception. For instance, the window nearest the S50 should be unobstructed by implements such as blinds or drapes. Beware also of bars, screens, trees and shrubs, buildings and roof overview of the S50's view of the sky.


4. Purchase a home dock for your radio. Your home Sirius comes with the receiver that transmits to available radio devices around the home. While the radios are portable, they work best when docked in a home docking station connected to the S50 which helps the radio receive a better signal. Your S50 is more effective when transmitting to a docked radio.


5. Keep radios and other wireless devices close to the S50. The receiver transmits up to 30 feet wirelessly, so expect to hear some choppiness or experience a loss of signal if you move your radios too far from the receiver.

Update Tmobile 3g Coverage

Your third generation (3G) phone offers enhancements such as high-speed transmission, global roaming and access to multimedia content. T-Mobile offers the appropriate software updates for your specific 3G phone. These updates include features and software components that improve the overall experience with the network. To update your phone, you need to connect it to your computer with a USB cable and sync software.


Instructions


1. Back up information on your phone with a memory card or backup software. The upgrade will wipe your phone's memory.


2. Visit the T-Mobile Download Center. (See Resources.) Download the Dash Update Utility. Click "Save" and save it to your desktop.


3. Double click the utility to open it. Attach the USB cable to your T-Mobile phone. Plug the other end of the cable to an available USB port on your computer.


4. Wait for your sync software to detect your phone and launch. Click "Start" and "Control Panel." Disable standby and hibernation modes.


5. Check "I completed the steps indicated" above on the software. Click the "Next" button. Click "Next" until the software prompts that you are ready to update your phone.
