Canon digital SLR camera with a "L" lens attached
The Canon 40D digital Single-Lens Reflex (SLR) camera is a consumer camera that is used by advanced amateur photographers and professional photographers alike. It fills the gap between the lower end Canon Rebel series cameras and the professional 1D series cameras. Many professional photographers use the Canon 40D camera instead of buying the more expensive 1D series cameras so they can use their money to buy the professional "L" series lenses. The Canon "L" series lenses are considered the sharpest and most durable of Canon's line up of lenses. They are generally sealed and more durable than the lower end lenses.
