Connect your equalizer to the receiver with two stereo cables.
A graphic equalizer is a stereo component that lets you sculpt the sound of your system in gradual steps across the treble, midrange and bass frequencies. The equalizer typically has slide controls on the front panel that adjust up and down. Each slide control changes the response of a specific frequency so you can tailor your system for different types of music. The equalizer connects to a receiver with a pair of standard stereo cables.
Instructions
1. Press the power buttons to turn off the equalizer and the receiver.
2. Connect the two plugs on one end of a stereo cable into the left and right "Tape 2 Out" jacks on the back of the receiver (some models may have jacks on the front for a second tape deck). The red plug goes in the right jack. The other plug, which may be white or black, goes in the left.
3. Hook up the other end of the cable to the input jacks on the back panel of the equalizer.
4. Connect the second stereo cable from the equalizer's let and right outputs to the "Tape 2 IN" jacks on the receiver.
5. Press the power buttons to activate the equalizer and receiver.
6. Press the "Tape 2" or "Tape Monitor" button on your receiver to send the audio signal to the equalizer, where you can adjust the sound with the component's controls. Press the button again to bypass the component and hear audio without equalization.
