The favorites on a TomTom--which not only includes your favorite locations, but your home address and recent searches as well--helps to quickly and efficiently setup your routes. Whether you are replacing your TomTom GPS unit or you want to transfer your saved locations to a friend's TomTom, all you need is your unit's USB cable and a computer to facilitate the transfer.
Instructions
1. Connect the first TomTom to your computer using the device's USB cable, and then confirm the connection on your TomTom. The TomTom Home software will launch--close the application.
2. Select the "Open folder to view files" option in the AutoPlay menu that appears in Windows operating systems. In Mac operating systems, the TomTom will appear as a new removable storage icon on the desktop--open the storage drive.
3. Open the Map folder associated with the favorites that you want to transfer. For example, if your favorites where from New York, you'd open your "North America" folder or if they where from Ontario, you'd open the "Canada" folder. Copy the "MapSettings.cfg" file from the folder to your desktop.
4. Disconnect the first TomTom. Connect the second device to your computer, and then navigate to the map folder on your computer--open the map folder.
