Slr Cameras For Beginners

A SLR camera gives the photographer control over her photographs.

A Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera offers even the amateur photographer more control over how she takes her photos. Changing lenses and making manual adjustments to the camera settings such as exposure, depth of field and shutter speed, enable the photographer to snap the perfect photograph.

Parts

The most important part of the SLR camera is the lens. Most SLR cameras use interchangeable lenses of various focal lengths, such as wide angle or super telephoto. Although SLR cameras have built-in flashes, an external flash will reduce the appearance of red-eye.

Advantages

An SLR camera allows the photographer to change the lens for different situations, environments and lighting. Although all camera settings can be manually adjusted, SLR cameras also have pre-set shooting modes. Unlike that on a fixed lens camera, the SLR viewfinder shows exactly what will be in the photo.

Digital SLRs

Most SLR cameras are now digital. They combine the flexibility of mechanical SLR cameras with the speed of electronics and the ability to operate in very low light. Large image sensors produce high-quality photographs, and the camera's memory can store many photos.
