Reset An Unactivated Evo 4g

The HTC Evo 4G is an Android smartphone that must be activated before it can access voice and data services on Sprint's 3G and 4G wireless networks. If your Evo 4G is unactivated, you can clear all the data off the phone and reset its settings to their factory default states. After you reset your Evo 4G, it will attempt to connect to Sprint's network and activate itself.

Instructions

Using the Settings Menu

1. Touch the "Menu" button while viewing your Evo 4G's home screen, and then tap "Settings" in the menu that appears at the bottom of the screen.

2. Tap "Privacy," tap "SD card & phone storage" and then tap "Factory data reset."

3. Tap the "Reset phone" button, and then tap "Erase everything" to confirm you want to reset your Evo 4G.

Using the Service Menu

4. Hold down the power button on the top of your Evo 4G, tap "Power off" and then tap "OK" to turn off your phone.

5. Hold down your Evo 4G's volume down button, and then press the power button to turn the phone on. Instead of loading Android normally, the phone will display a service menu.

6. Press the volume down button to highlight "Clear Storage," and then press the power button to reset your Evo 4G.
