Know When Your Phone Is Dry

When your cell phone gets wet, there are two ways that water can damage the phone. The first is by shorting out the circuits, and the second is by corrosion of the phone's internal metal parts. It's essential that you do not power your phone on until it is completely dry on the inside. You can dry out the phone's insides using dry rice or silica gel packets. But how do you know if it's dry?

Instructions

1. Lay several paper towels down on a flat surface. You want a thick enough layer of towels so that the phone will sink into the towels and the top towel will touch the areas between the keys.

2. Place the phone on the paper towel, with the keypad down. Leave the phone in this position for about an hour.

3. Check the paper towel for signs of moisture. Stains or discoloration on the surface of the towel will tell you whether there is still water inside the phone. If it comes up dry, flip the phone over and try the test on the other side. If the phone is still wet inside, return it to the bowl of rice or desiccants.
