Transfer 8mm Film To Cd

Burn digital video recorded from your 8mm player onto a blank CD.

Video recorded on 8mm film may hold personal or professional significance to you. As a result, it may be in your best interest to preserve or share the video in a more accessible form. Transferring 8mm film to CD allows you to store the video digitally, as opposed to its original fragile condition. You may also play the video in digital form from the CD on your personal computer. Connect the 8mm film's player to your computer's TV tuner to create the necessary recording for burning onto a data disc.

Instructions

1. Load your 8mm cassette whose video you wish to transfer onto a data CD into an 8mm player such as a camcorder.

2. Connect the 8mm player to the TV tuner on your computer. Insert the 8mm player's A/V cable's RCA outputs into your TV tuner's color-coded "Video In" or "Line In" port. You may instead insert one end of an RCA cable into your 8mm player's "Video Out" or "Line Out" port. Insert the other end of the cable into your TV tuner's "Video In" or "Line In" port.

3. Launch your TV tuner's control panel.

4. Click the TV tuner control panel's "Record" button.

5. Push "Play" on the 8mm player immediately to minimize empty space at the beginning of your digital recording.

6. Push the TV tuner's "Stop" button when the 8mm video's playback has finished.

7. Save the TV tuner's recording of your 8mm video to a digital file format, such as AVI or MPEG.

8. Insert a blank writable CD into your computer's CD writer drive.

9. Launch your computer's CD writer utility if it does not load automatically upon the blank disc's insertion. Load the new digital recording of your 8mm video into the utility's burn list. Select "Burn" to complete the 8mm film's transfer to a data CD.
