Record From My Computer Camera

More and more computers include a web camera pre-installed. These cameras are capable of recording video and taking still photographs, at which point the files are stored directly to your computer's hard drive. Cameras can also be used for video conferencing and instant messaging. Recording from your computer's camera is easy. You just have to know which computer program you need to use.

Instructions

1. Click on the "Start" menu in the bottom-left hand corner of your desktop. This will pull up a menu with multiple options.

2. Click on the "Programs" menu. This will expand into another menu filled with all of the installed programs available to use on your computer. Locate and click on the icon that says "Camera Assistant." This is the built-in camera management software that comes pre-installed on computers with built-in web cams.

3. Locate the image on the right side of the Camera Assistant software window. This is the camera's current frame. If you're sitting directly in front of your camera it will show an image of yourself. Though the image is in motion, the camera is not automatically recording.

4. Press the "Picture" button to take a still picture with the built-in camera. This will capture whatever is in the camera frame exactly as it appears on-screen.

5. Press the "Video" button to begin recording full-motion video complete with audio. This will capture whatever is in the camera frame exactly the way it appears on-screen, until you run out of available hard drive space.
