Cricket Triband Phone Advantages

Cricket Wireless is a CDMA wireless provider that offers flat-rate, unlimited calling and data services in select U.S. cities. To expand its wireless service, Cricket has upgraded its network to support tri-band mobile phones. There are many advantages to using tri-band phones: extended coverage, greater roaming capabilities and better overall service. Most of all, Cricket tri-band phones will allow subscribers to stay connected wherever Cricket wireless network access is available.

Tri-Band Phones

Tri-band phones are rapidly becoming the standard in the wireless industry. Unlike dual band phones, which only operate at 800MHZ and 1900MHz frequencies, tri-band phones operate on 800MHZ, 900MHz and 1800MHz frequencies common across wireless networks. The additional frequency gives tri-band phones greater roaming capabilities, allowing wireless callers to stay in touch when they travel to different markets.

Cricket Wireless Tri-Band Markets

Cricket tri-band phones are rapidly becoming essential for subscribers. In 2008, Cricket announced that all of their new mobile phones will have tri-band capabilities to ensure that they can be used wherever Cricket service is available. Cricket has launched numerous tri-band markets and subscribers in these cities are required to have tri-band phones use the service.

Advantages

There are many advantages to using tri-band phones: greater coverage area, in and out of network compatibility; improved technology and subscriber flexibility. Furthermore, Cricket tri-band phones are also compatible in Cricket's dual band home calling areas. Subscribers with dual-band Cricket phones will not be able to access service when they travel into one of the company's tri-band markets. Instead, dual band subscribers will be forced to use their allotment of nationwide roaming minutes and will also lack many data services.

Subscribers using Tri-band phones will always have access to their normal cricket calling features including unlimited minutes and data services, regardless of the type of Cricket home calling area they travel to.

Roaming Capabilities

Another advantage to tri-band phones is the increased roaming capabilities. Cricket has entered into roaming agreements with various carriers across the country to give subscribers greater flexibility when traveling outside the Cricket home calling areas. The more extensive roaming network requires handsets that are able to be used on tri-band networks. Since most wireless providers use tri-band frequencies, Cricket has upgraded its handsets to ensure compatibility in other markets.
