The BlackBerry Storm is part of the 9500 series of BlackBerry phone and is its first touch screen device that does not come with a keyboard. The Storm is BlackBerry's response to the Apple iPhone and the T-Mobile G-1 mobile phones. The Storm is international based on its carrier technology, which allows it to be used worldwide. However, it can be limited in its data speed in remote portions of the United States where GSM carrier service is not fully developed. In the United States the Storm is primarily intended for use on Verizon networks and on Vodafone infrastructure throughout the rest of the world.
Instructions
1. The easiest means by which you can set up the BlackBerry Storm is to use the built-in setup wizard that comes with the phone. To set up the Storm, charge your phone and power on by depressing the 'Green" telephone button on the phone's touch screen.
2. Select the "Setup Wizard" icon on the Storm by pushing the "Setup Wizard" icon on the touch screen. Push the "Date/Time" icon to configure the time zone and current time for the Storm setup. Select the time zone and enter the current time on the BlackBerry Storm. When complete, select the "Done" icon.
3. Select the "Email Setup" icon on the BlackBerry Wizard menu, which appears on the phone. Next, select the "I want to add or create an email account" menu option on the Storm. Then, click the "Next" menu button to continue with email configuration.
4. Click the "Add" menu selection button to configure the Storm to use an existing email account. If your email account is from Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo or Live.com, select the menu item that refers to these services. If the email account is from another provider, select the "Other" menu item.
5. Enter your email alias (i.e., youremailname@your service provider.com) and the password for the account on the next menu screen. The Storm will connect to your email account, and setup of the phone is complete.
