Take Pictures Of Birds

Getting good pictures of birds requires much more than a quality camera and photography skills. It requires an understanding of bird behavior and a lot of patience. Setting the stage to allow the photographer to capture that stunning shot is just as important as the camera and the photographer himself.

Instructions

1. Create an inviting environment for birds. This includes providing a number of different feeders located near bushes and shrubs that birds can easily use for shelter. The more feeders you have, the more birds you will attract. Be sure to include hanging feeders, suet feeders, platform feeders and an area for ground feeding.

2. Provide a variety of bird food to attract a wide variety of birds. Black oil sunflower seeds are preferred by many birds; but, be sure to include other mixtures, as well. There are many formulas to choose from in your local hardware or department store. The wider the variety of food you offer, the greater your chances of attracting new and interesting birds.

3. Provide a source of fresh water. An attractive birdbath is ideal, but any saucer of fresh water will do. A fountain is even better as the sounds of fresh water will draw birds to your yard.

4. Create a sitting area that is close to feeders and birdbaths. This will allow you get close to the birds without frightening them away. The best way to do this is to create as seating area that can be moved from one area to another. Begin by sitting in the distance. Once the birds have become accustomed to your presence, move your seating area closer. It may take several weeks before you are able to sit within a few feet of the feeders or birdbath while birds are present. Be patient and don't try to move too close to quickly.

5. Introduce your camera to the garden once birds are comfortable and you are able to sit within a good distance for photography. Don't worry that you first shots may not be spectacular. You simply want the birds to become accustomed to this piece of equipment. Enjoy you time in your bird garden and watch for new and interesting ways to photograph your birds.
