You can scan slides with the Canon Pixma MP610.
Converting 35mm slides into digital files can be accomplished in a number of ways. You can use a dedicated film scanner to scan each slide into your computer. You can use your digital single lens reflex or compact digital camera and essentially take a picture of the 35mm slide, thus creating a digital file. Or you can use an all-in-one ink jet printer like the Canon Pixma MP610 that is both a printer and scanner. The MP610 will scan at an optical resolution up to 4800 x 9600 resolution, a good setting for scanning 35mm slides.
Instructions
1. Turn on your computer and the Canon Pixma MP610 all-in-one printer. If you haven't already done so, install the "ScanSoft" software included with the printer onto your computer.
2. Double-click the icon for the printer's software to open the software on your computer.
3. Organize your slides for scanning by arranging them in the categories in which you are going to save them. Create folders on your computer and give the folders the same name as the categories into which you organized your slides.
4. Prepare your slides for scanning by carefully cleaning them using an anti-static cloth. This specially treated cloth is designed to remove dust and debris from the side and help prevent dust collecting on the slide during the scanning process.
5. Load the slides into the slide carrier tray for the Canon MP610 printer. Insert the carrier tray and press the "Start" button on the printer or through the software on the computer. Once the scan has been completed, save the images to the appropriate folder and repeat until all the slides have been scanned into your computer.
