Why Does My Xantrex Freedom 458 Light Flash All The Time

Flashing LED lights on the Xantrex Freedom 458 may indicate proper operation, equipment failure or other problems. Identify the source of the light as soon as possible to avoid permanent damage to the inverter if there is a problem.

Identification

The information indicated by a flashing LED light on the Freedom 458 inverter varies based on which LED is flashing. Identify the LED light to simplify the troubleshooting process.

Standard Blinking Lights

A blinking LED on the "Setup" icon indicates that your inverter is in setup mode. If the "Invert" icon is blinking and an AC adapter is connected, the inverter is in standby mode. If no AC adapter is connected and the "Invert" icon is blinking, the current power supplied by the inverter is below the "Idle" setting programmed during the setup process. Your "Idle" setting is the lowest power draw before the inverter goes idle and no longer supplies power.

Troublesome Blinking Lights

If the "Fault" LED is illuminated, blinking LED lights indicate a problem with your inverter. A blinking "Battery" LED indicates that the battery power is too low to function. Charge the batteries to eliminate the problem. If the "VDC" power LED is blinking, the battery is overcharging. Disconnect any additional charging sources attached to the inverter. The "AC" light blinks when there is an additional AC feed on the inverter. Disconnect the AC charger. Unplug some of the power-drawing items from the inverter if the "Inverter" light flashes. Press the "Inverter" button to reset it. If the "Charge" light blinks, the charger is overloaded and the battery is too low to charge. Unplug and reset the inverter, then try again.
