La Crosse Technology Information

La Crosse Technology, Ltd., is a consumer electronics company that produces wireless weather stations, radio-controlled clocks and watches, power monitors and various measuring devices. La Crosse products are available at retail outlets throughout North America.

La Crosse Technology, Ltd. was founded in 1985, is headquartered in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and has a sister company, La Crosse Technology France, which was founded in 1991 and is located in Strasbourg. Both companies sell the same La Crosse products, but with one major difference.


Difference


All La Crosse products sold in the U.S. are calibrated to the National Institute of Standards and Technology's atomic time standard and default to Fahrenheit, inches/HG and miles per hour. La Crosse France products default to Celsius, Hecto Pascal and meters per hour. North American La Crosse products are synchronized with a radio signal out of Fort Collins, Colorado, while European La Crosse products are synced out of Frankfurt, Germany.


Innovation


According to its website, La Crosse Technology introduced the radio-controlled clock to the American market in 1991 and remains on the cutting edge of this technology in 2010. La Crosse Technology France's website maintains that the company was the first to introduce remote transmission thermometers.
