What Parts Are In A Tv

Older television sets that used resistors, capacitors, tubes, wires and knobs were relatively easy to take apart. Parts were recognizable and set into large boxes for easy access. New TV sets that incorporate computer chips and plasma are more complicated and harder to work on. You must be able to recognize what parts are in a TV before beginning the troubleshooting process.

Semiconductors

Diodes, transistors and circuit boards are all integrated in the semiconductors of a TV. They are the computer chips that regulate the television operations.

Modulators

Modulators are made to detect the signal from the cable input or antennae. The modulator recognizes and transforms the audio and video feeds to the TV.

Tuners

The tuner is a chip that accepts the feed from the modulator and transfers it to the TV computer.

Bulbs

TV bulbs or lamps create the lights that make viewing the picture possible.

Audio components

Audio components include speakers and wiring.

Plasma Panels

Plasma TVs have a board that creates the picture. It's composed of small gases that float between two pieces of glass.

Power assembly

A power assembly is the box that plugs into the power source and drives the various components.
