Connect A Canon Camera To A Pc

Import and delete photos from SD memory cards if you have a reader.

A manufacturer of cameras, printers, copiers, scanners and other devices, Canon produces more than a dozen different digital cameras that may be connected to a PC. Canon includes software and a USB cable with each of its cameras, although if you purchased a used camera, you may not have received these items. You can download the Canon ZoomBrowser EX software from the Canon website, but you must have the appropriate USB cable for your camera model in order to connect it to your PC.

Instructions

1. Install the Canon software that is included with your camera, or download and install the latest version of the ZoomBrowser EX from the Canon website.

2. Open the protective compartment that houses your ports and media storage device.

3. Connect the included USB cable to the appropriate port on your camera. Insert the other end to an available USB port on your computer.

4. Power on the camera. Set the camera to "Playback mode."

5. Give Windows a few seconds to detect the camera. Click on "Download images from Canon Camera using Canon CameraWindow" in the AutoPlay window. Select the camera icon in your system tray if using Windows 7, then select the landscape icon. Click on "Download images from Canon Camera using Canon CameraWindow," then double-click on the icon that looks like a camera in front of an SD card.

6. Select "Import images from camera" or "Organize images on camera," then choose "Import all images," "Select images to import" or "Organize images."
