Canon Powershot A650 Compared To Sony Cybershot Dscw170

The size of the camera is only one way to make a comparison.

The Canon PowerShot A650 was released in 2007 and the Sony CyberShot Dscw 170 was released in 2008. Besides megapixels -- the Canon has 12.1 and the Sony has 10.1 -- the cameras are comparable in size, features and technology.

Size

While both cameras are compact, the Canon camera, with its retractable lens and adjustable LCD screen, is almost twice the size and weight of the Sony. Although the Canon is larger it still fits into a bag or pocket for portability.

Features

Both cameras have a variety of standard photography features available, such as Auto, Portrait and Landscape. However, the Canon can be set on Manual so you can control the exposure.

Technology

Both cameras record movies with sound. The Canon uses AVI and Sony uses MPEG. The Canon is compatible with SD, SDHC, MMC memory cards and uses four AA batteries. The Sony uses Memory Stick PRO and a lithium-ion battery.
