The diffusion head for the Sunpak 22 electronic flash pro-system was designed to offer even illumination to the space all around it and could be used either in automatic mode or with the percentage of power set manually.
Diffusion Head
The diffusion head for the Sunpak 622 electronic flash pro-system could be used with the 622 body, along with the standard head, wide-angle head, infrared head, bare bulb head, ring head and zoom head. These heads could be attached to and removed from the body depending upon the needs of the photographer.
Lighting Power
Designed for studio situations and for use with fish-eye lenses because it evenly illuminated the flash in all directions, the Sunpak 622 diffusion head had a flash power of 170 watt-seconds. A watt-second is a unit of energy equal to a joule, which is equivalent to one watt of power expended for one second. In manual mode, the photographer could use as much as 100 percent or as little as 1/128th of the full power.
Angle of Illumination
According to the Sunpak 622 flash pro-system manual, the diffusion head offered 360 horizontal degrees of illumination. In practical terms, this means it could evenly light the portion of a room that was at the same height as the flash.
Weight
The Sunpak 22 diffusion head had a weight of 3.8 oz., or 110 grams, the same as the standard, wide-angle and infrared heads and lighter than the system's other heads. The Sunpak 622 body weighed 33 oz., or 940 grams, not including the batteries.
