Use Opteka Semifisheye Lens

To create an image with a dramatic flair, try a fish-eye lens if you're not afraid to mess around with your camera. These lenses take a 180 degree (or higher) angle of view and compress it into a circle that fits within your camera's digital sensor, producing an effect akin to a fish looking at its subject -- "fisheye." With the Opteka semi-fisheye lens, you can easily convert your existing lens with a 52mm front filter thread, giving your images a bold new look.

Instructions

1. Attach a lens with a 52mm front filter thread to the camera if no lens came permanently installed. If you do not know the size of your front filter thread, you can check it at the link in the Resources section of this article.

2. Remove any filters already attached to the lens by unscrewing them in a counter-clockwise direction.

3. Screw the Opteka semi-fisheye lens into place with a clockwise motion. Start carefully to make sure you do not cross-thread the lens and front filter thread, as this makes for a very difficult repair.

4. Look through the viewfinder. If using a camera with a through-the-lens viewfinder, like a DSLR, you'll see the effect immediately. If using a point-and-shoot camera or a camera without a through-the-lens viewfinder, take a photograph and then look at the image on the digital preview screen to see the effect.

5. Shoot as your normally would. The lens requires no exposure compensation. Don't forget to experiment to find the best way to use your fish-eye lens artistically.
