Convert A Canon 75300 Telephoto Lens Into A Wide Angle

A wide-angle converter will help you capture shots like this one.

The Canon 75-300 mm telephoto zoom lens is an excellent lens for capturing shots at a distance. The long, 300 mm end of the lens allows you to get the shot you're looking for but can't get close to. The wider, 75 mm end of the lens still allows you to capture portraits or shots of closer objects. However, if you're looking to go even wider than 75 mm, you can attach a wide-angle converter, which screws on the front of the lens and alters the lens' angle of view.

Instructions

1. Attach the Canon 75-300mm lens to your Canon SLR or DSLR camera. To do this, line up the red dots on the lens and the body, insert the lens into the lens mount and turn it one quarter-turn clockwise to lock it in place.

2. Turn on you camera using the power button.

3. Zoom the lens all the way out to the 75 mm end.

4. Look through the viewfinder to see the lens' current angle of view.

5. Screw your wide-angle converter onto the front of the lens. Start gently, allowing the converter's threads to catch on the front filter mount on their own. If you force it, you may strip the filter threads, which can be difficult and expensive to repair.

6. Look through the viewfinder again, noticing the different in the angle of view.

7. Adjust your exposure to the proper setting for the scene you are shooting and press the shutter button to take a photograph, shooting as your normally would.
