Program A Sony Remote To A Tv

Sony Universal Remote Controls allows users to program all of the devices in their entertainment center to one remote control, clearing up the clutter of multiple remote controls. The remote controls have two methods for programming the devices: manual remote control code entry and searching for remote control codes. Both options are good for programming your television and other devices, though the manual remote control code entry takes less time than searching for the codes.

Instructions

Manual Remote Control Code Entry

1. Press the "Set" and "Mode" button on the Sony Universal Remote Control at the same time to enter the remote's programming mode.

2. Point the remote control at the television and press the "TV" button so the remote will be linked to your television. The "Set" button and "TV" button indicator lights will turn on and remain lit.

3. Find the codes for your television by searching through the remote control instruction manual. The codes are arranged alphabetically by the name of the manufacturer. Most manufacturers will have several codes listed.

4. Use the number keypad on the remote control to enter the first code on the list and press the "ENT" button to save the code.

5. Test the saved code by pressing the "Power" button on the remote control. The television will turn on if the proper code was saved to the remote. If the television does not turn on, repeat steps 1 to 4 with the next code on the list. Repeat this process until you find the code that works on your TV.

Searching for Remote Control Codes

6. Place the remote control in programming mode by pressing the "Set" and "Mode" buttons at the same time.

7. Press the "TV" button on the remote control while pointing the remote at the television. The indicator lights on the "Set" and "TV" button will turn on.

8. Press the channel "Up" button and then the "Power" button to try the first code. The channel "Up" button advances to the first search code and the "Power" button tests if the code works for the television.

9. Continue pressing the channel "Up" button and then the "Power" button until the television turns on.

10. Save the code that turns your television on by pressing the "ENT" button.
