Connect Xm To A Chevy Uplander Radio

XM and Sirius satellite radio have merged together to form a single satellite radio company, but you can still use your original XM radio car hardware. The car install unit comes with a magnetic antenna that is placed on your Chevrolet Uplander's roof and is connected to the radio device by a running wire. The Uplander has a traditional radio installed in the dashboard which can be set to wirelessly receive XM broadcasts from the device once it is connected.

Instructions

1. Connect the base mount to your Uplander using either the vent clip or adhesive. The vent mount clips onto the air conditioning vent while the adhesive must be stuck on a clean surface. If using the adhesive, press the mount down on a clean surface for about 30 seconds and wait a full day for it to settle.

2. Put the magnetic antenna on the roof in the center, about three inches from the window, and run the wire back into the Uplander. You can partially hide the wire by tucking it into the window frame and under the carpet as you guide it to the back of the XM mount.

3. Place the XM radio to the mount and plug the power supply into your cigarette lighter power adapter. Also connect the antenna plug to the back of the XM radio.

4. Turn on the Uplander radio and scan for an unused frequency. Once you find one, leave it on this frequency and write the FM channel down.

5. Turn on the XM radio and set it to play through the FM channel you selected. Navigating to this menu varies by the model of XM radio, but usually you need to search in the settings menu and select the FM transmitter. Once selected, XM channels will start playing through the Uplander radio.
