Manually Focus A Shot On A Camcorder

When using a camcorder, especially an older model, you will have to learn manually focus the lens. Manually focusing the lens simply means you need to adjust the lens of your camcorder in order to achieve a clear shot. Follow these steps to learn manually focus a shot on a camcorder.

Instructions

1. Get into position for your shot. Make sure your camcorder is either on a tripod or in your hand and still.

2. Point your camcorder at the object you will be filming. Hold the camera firmly in place while you are doing this.

3. Move the lens right or left until the object that you are focusing on looks clear. The lens is the cylinder on the front of your camcorder.

4. Once you have the object looking crystal clear, or at least as clear as you want it, hit the record button. If you move after you hit record, you will have to refocus your shot.

5. If you do multiple shots while recording, you will need to refocus your camera on the fly. You can do this by moving the camera slowly from shot to shot and by using your free hand to adjust the lens.
