The Best Compact Sd Camcorders

SD cards are used to record certain video formats.

Camcorders can record video onto a number of different formats, ranging from tapes to digital cards. SD cards will hold a large amount of footage in a digital format. There are a number of superior camcorders on the market that use SD cards. Your choice of camcorder depends on what you are recording and what level of quality you seek.

Panasonic AG-HMC150

The Panasonic AG-HMC150 is a professional-quality camcorder that uses SD cards and is one of the best camcorders on the market for prosumer use. It has an optical image stabilizer and a three-inch LCD display that allows videographers to look through while they are filming or playing back footage. It shoots video in an AVC format and also shoots still images at a 1920-by-1080 format. This SD camcorder is also relatively lightweight, at only about four pounds. The camera is just over six inches in length, making it something you can easily carry with you in a bag or backpack.

Canon FS22

According to infosyncworld.com, the Canon FS22 is one of the best camcorders on the market that uses SD cards. Even though it shoots standard rather than high-definition video, it offers excellent video quality. Because it is a handheld camcorder, the Canon has limited external features, but there is a manual shutter speed that can be adjusted for different levels of light. The Canon FS22 records to 32 gigabytes of internal flash memory, which is more then adequate for a consumer-grade camcorder. However, as of 2010, these camcorders were priced at over $500, raising the question of whether to spend that much money on a standard-definition camcorder.

Sony DCR-SR47

The Sony DCR-SR47 is one of the best SD camcorders, according to infosyncworld.com. It has an optical 60x zoom and its body styling looks very sleek. It is the definition of compact, as it can fit inside a jacket pocket relatively easily and shoots a high-grade standard-definition image. This SD camcorder does not have a lot of external features due to its small size, and the pixel count is lower than that of other SD camcorders of comparable quality. However, the Sony is relatively inexpensive for what it can deliver, priced at $250 as of 2010.
