Connect Xm To Gm Radios

Connecting an XM radio receiver to your existing car radio unit enables you to enjoy XM radio streaming in your car.

While certain models of GM vehicles come with XM satellite radio pre-installed, there are GM cars that do not have XM radio connected. If your GM radio is not equipped with XM radio, still enjoy XM satellite radio streaming in your existing car stereo by installing an add-on XM radio receiver kit.

Instructions

1. Purchase an add-on XM radio receiver kit from an online store or from your nearest auto electronics store. The XM radio receiver kit includes a stick-on XM radio receiver cradle and an add-on XM radio receiver that must be mounted to your existing GM radio unit.

2. Install the XM radio receiver. Identify a suitable location on your GM car to attach the stick-on car cradle, such as near your vehicle's dashboard or console. Wipe the mounting surface with a clean cloth to remove dust and dirt. Peel away the adhesive liner on the XM radio receiver cradle and attach the cradle to the mounting surface. Press the cradle adhesive firmly against the mounting surface to hold it in place. Position the XM radio receiver securely in the cradle.

3. Install the external XM radio receiver antenna. Attach the receiver antenna on the roof or trunk of your car. Peel off the adhesive liner on the receiver antenna and press it firmly on to the vehicle's roof or trunk.

4. Route the external antenna wires around your vehicle to the XM radio receiver. Run the antenna wires along the plastic linings of your vehicle's windows and trunk into the car. Most GM cars have floor and ceiling space you can use to route wires in the car. Run the antenna wires along the floor or ceiling space to conceal the wires in the vehicle.

.

5. Plug the power connector and antenna wires into their respective XM radio receiver ports. Consult your XM radio receiver manufacturer's manual for specific connection instructions for your particular make and model of XM radio receiver.
