Sealife Dc500 Specifications

The Sealife Dc500 was a high-resolution digital camera that was capable of being used up to 200 feet underwater. It could take still shots and record videos. It included a Shark Mode designed specifically for taking sharp photos of fast-moving sea creatures. It was discontinued in November 2006.

Build

The Sealife Dc500 hosted a tough rubber polycarbonate housing and stainless steel metal hardware. It weighed 5 ounces and measured 3.5 by 5.5 by 3.4 inches. It was designed to be small enough to carry in one's pocket, but it came with a padded lanyard so consumers could wear it around their neck while on land. It could withstand very hot temperatures up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit, but it was limited to above freezing temperatures, meaning it couldn't handle anything below 33 degrees.

Photo and Video Capabilities

Featured on the Sealife Dc500 was a 5 megapixel charge-coupled device sensor and a 3x optical zoom lens. These components allowed the camera to capture high-definition still images up to 2560x1920 pixels in the JPEG format and record standard definition videos up to 640x480 pixels and at 30 frames per second in the MPEG4 format. Also included was a 4x digital zoom and an auto focus capability up to 2.3 inches.

Connectivity Options

The Dc500 underwater camera had an audio output so consumers could listen to their recorded videos with a pair of headphones. Mind you, the camera already had an integrated mono speaker. Also included was a Phase Alternating Line and National Television System Committee compatible video port that could be used to transmit captured pictures and recorded videos directly to an older, coaxial-based television set. There was also a USB 2.0 port for connecting to a computer, and a secure digital (SD) card slot for storing recorded content on an SD card up to 512 mb.

Extra Features

Also featured was a rechargeable lithium battery that could run for approximately an hour and a half. Plus, the Dc500 camera hosted a 2-inch LCD display so consumers could preview their photos and videos. The special Shark Mode allowed users to take 10 simultaneous photos without having to set each of them up individually.
