Connect A Sony Handycam To A Computer

Connect a Sony Handycam to a Computer

Sony's Handycam camcorders are great video recorders that are available in standard definition, high definition and professional grade setups. Once recorded onto a DV tape, an HDV tape or a hard drive, users have the option of transferring their videos to a computer. This opens the door for video editing, archiving and transferring to a DVD or Blu-Ray disc. Whether you recorded a family vacation or an amateur short film, all the tools are at your disposal.

Instructions

1. Plug in the 4 pin (small) end of the i.LINK cable into the correct port on you Handycam.

2. Plug in the 6 pin (large) end of the cable into the firewire port on your computer. If you have a laptop, you may need a 4 pin to 4 pin i.LINK cable instead of the 4 pin to 6 pin.

3. Turn on your computer.

4. Turn on your camera. You may also need to put the camera in playback mode for the computer to recognize it.
