Flash A Mytouch 3g

Flashing a phone means to unlock a CDMA phone from its network. Although technically the term "flash" is incorrect when referring to a GSM phone, it is still possible to unlock a MyTouch 3G from the T-Mobile network. If you are moving to a new mobile service provider or traveling outside of the country, unlocking your MyTouch can be beneficial. To do it, you need the SIM unlock code to your specific handset. Fortunately, T-Mobile provides the service free of charge to qualifying customers or those who have a phone outside of a contract. Once you have the code, you just input it on the right screen to unlock the phone.

Instructions

1. Locate the IMEI number of your phone in the battery compartment or by dialing *#06# from your handset. Write down the number for future reference.

2. Dial "611" on your MyTouch 3G to contact T-Mobile Customer Care. Explain that you would like the SIM unlock code to your phone. Provide the IMEI number you located in Step 1 and a valid email address to send the information to.

3. Turn off the MyTouch 3G when you receive your SIM unlock code by email. Lift the back cover off the phone and remove the battery from the compartment. Slide the SIM card out of its compartment. Slide the SIM card from the new company into the compartment with the gold side down and the cut-off corner facing out of the compartment.

4. Replace the battery and back cover on your MyTouch 3G. Turn the phone back on. Click "OK" when the phone displays a SIM card error message.

5. Type in the SIM unlock code you received by email from T-Mobile. Click "OK."
