Format An Sd 4gb Usb

Formatting an SD card will return it to its original capacity.

Formatting a 4 GB SD card connected to a computer via a USB SD adapter is important if you want to delete everything from the SD card and return it to its full capacity. Although you can format an SD card using the formatting utilities in Microsoft Windows, the SD Association recommends that you use their SD-specific formatting software, which formats SD cards so they meet the data standards required for mobile devices.

Instructions

1. Download the SD Formatter 2.0 software (see Resources section). The software is provided by the SD Association and can be installed in Microsoft Windows.

2. Install the software. Run the executable file downloaded to your computer and follow the instructions to choose the target directory to which you want the software installed.

3. Insert your SD card. If using a USB adapter to connect the SD card to the computer, first insert the SD card into the USB reader and then attach the USB reader to the computer.

4. With the SD card inserted, launch SD Formatter 2.0. Select the SD card that you want to format from the onscreen choices.

5. Click "Option" on the SD Formatter main screen. Select how you want to format the SD card. The first choice is a quick format, which is the fastest way to format your card. You may also choose a full format, which will write data to the entire 4 GB SD card and delete it in order to format it. A full format takes longer.

The final choice is called Format Size Adjustment. Leave this option off unless your device has difficulty writing files to SD cards. After reviewing these settings, click "OK."

6. Format the card. After setting options, click the "Format" button to begin the formatting process. A progress bar will show the percentage of completion of the formatting. When formatting is complete, close SD Formatter 2.0. You can now begin saving files to your 4 GB SD card connected via USB adapter.
