Initial Setup


1. Unpack your printer and assemble your printer supplies. You need ink cartridges labeled HP 02—which are already included in the box--and you should also invest in high-quality photo paper.


2. Plug in the printer. After five minutes, turn it on. Select the language from the printer screen and confirm your selection. Select also the proper country code and once again confirm your selection.


3. Connect the printer to your computer with the USB cable.


4. Install the ink cartridges by opening the printer top cover and simply sliding them into the labeled places. Close the top cover. Insert the photo paper into the paper tray.


5. Turn on your computer and insert the CD that was also in the printer box. Click on the install icon and the installation of the printer software will begin. Follow the prompts until the computer signals that the installation process is completed.


6. Log on to the Internet and double check on the HP website that you have the latest driver installed for your Photosmart printer. Assuming that you are good to go, it is now time to print some photos.


Print Photos from a Memory Card


7. Remove your digital camera’s memory card and insert it into the printer’s memory card slot. You will hear a little click when it is all the way in, and the memory card light will begin flashing.


8. Confirm that you want to save the photos that are on the memory card. The printer has its own memory, and you can save them directly to the printer hard drive.


9. Choose the view option and then the print option. You are now prompted to select the photo size. It is up to you to select the regular 4”-x-6” or any other size. Depending on your preference and the photo paper you purchased, you pick the paper size next.


10. Decide on the photos you want to print out. With the help of the arrow keys, you may bypass any pictures that you do not wish to print at this time and only highlight the photos you wish to print now.


11. Select the print option when you have finished the process and identified all the photos you are going to print.
