Glossy LCD
Glossy screens provide a user with the most quality and highest levels of brightness and contrast. They are characterized by bright, vibrant colors and the displays are more crisp and clear than matte screens. Glossy screens can make viewing tiresome, however, as they do have a negative effect on the eyes and smudge very easily.
Matte LCD
Matte LCD screens use a polarized coating, which cuts down on glare. Hence they are called "anti glare" screens. The only disadvantages this type presents are that colors appear more dull than on a glossy screen and the image may look unclear or not well defined.
Matte or Glossy: A better option?
The biggest difference between glossy and matte LCD screens is glare. Glossy screens are more prone to reflect light; when the screen is dark, you're likely to see a reflection of your surroundings. Some users also note that colors on glossy screens sometimes appear less true than those on matte screens.
