Install An Addon Car Cd Changer

Installing an add-on car CD changer may be the perfect solution for those who lease or rent vehicles--or plan on using one changer for two or more vehicles. Add-on car CD changers are generally easy to install and require less installation expertise than most other mobile sound systems.

Instructions

1. Decide on the proper location for your new add-on CD changer. While many people choose the trunk or underneath one of the front seats, you may be able to get more creative, depending upon both the size of your vehicle and the actual size of the changer. Take into account the length of the associated cables supplied with the changer so you can avoid having to purchase additional leads and interfaces.

2. Read the owner's manual of your add-on car CD changer thoroughly before beginning any installation. Not only will the owner's manual give you specific tips on install the changer and associated cabling, but it will give you a complete inventory of all the mounting hardware and decide which combination of accessories and adapters to use.

3. Determine whether you want to use the supplied bracket and hardware for a more permanent type of installation for your add-on CD changer or Velcro straps if you want the option to remove the changer without modifying or otherwise damaging the vehicle. Velcro straps are usually offered free from the car audio retailer who sold you the changer.

4. Check out the factory-installed or existing car audio system and see how an add on car CD changer will be installed. You may need to purchase a separate CD interface, which consists of a wiring harness and associated cabling, if your present unit does not provide the right type of output jacks for your new changer.

5. Choose proper pathways for all of the cabling of your new changer so that they are hidden from view and will not be damaged. Most carpeting in modern vehicles can be easily pried up and then replaced by carefully using a flathead screwdriver.
