Format A 1 Gb Xd Card

Extreme digital cards, or XD cards, are a type of flash memory that is typically used in digital cameras and other computer peripherals. These XD memory cards come in a variety of sizes, but a 1 gigabyte card can handle a significant number of pictures and data. Before using an XD card to store images or files, you will need to format the card through a desktop of laptop computer. Formatting a memory card will delete all data from the card.

Instructions

1. Plug your 1 gigabyte XD card into your memory card unit and then connect the device to a USB port on your PC computer. If you do not have a memory card reader, put the XD card in your digital camera and connect the camera to your computer with a USB cable.

2. Open the Start menu and click on the "My Computer" icon.

3. Locate and select your XD card from the list of available storage devices. The card will usually be labeled with a drive letter, like the "F" or "G" drive.

4. Right-click on the icon of your XD card and choose the "Format" option from the contextual menu. A pop-up window will open with various formatting options.

5. Select "FAT32" from the "File system" drop-down menu.

6. Click on the "Start" button at the bottom of the window to begin the formatting process. The XD card should finish formatting in a few minutes.
