Use A Sim Card

How do I Use a SIM Card?

SIM cards are small, stamp sized-microchips. Many wireless devices -- specifically, those with the capability to operate on GSM or iDEN networks -- operate with the use of a SIM card. You'll need an active wireless account in order for a SIM card to be functional. Your provider will then link the SIM card with your phone number. An active SIM card is usable with any compatible GSM or iDEN device -- some phones are carrier-specific, but others are unlocked, allowing them to be used with any carrier's SIM card. Phones operating on digital networks, such as Sprint or Verizon, do not use SIM cards.

Instructions

1. Charge the device you wish to use with your SIM card completely.

2. Disconnect the device from the charging source and keep it powered off. Locate the SIM card slot -- for most wireless phones, the SIM card housing is beneath the battery. Remove the battery door and battery to gain to access it.

3. Insert the SIM card into the device, lining up the card's golden contacts with the metal contacts of the SIM card slot. Replace the battery and battery door if necessary.

4. Press the device's "Power" button to turn it on. The phone will locate network coverage, represented by the signal indicator bars on the screen, and be ready for use.
