Promedia 4 1 Specs

The Promedia 4.1 is a personal audio system used to play audio signals from DVD and compact disc (CD) players, MP3 players, video game units, televisions and video cassette recorders (VCRs). Klipsch manufactures this speaker system, which consists of a single subwoofer and four satellite speakers. The company initially released this speaker system in 2000 and this model has since been discontinued.

Size

Each satellite speaker weighs 2.1 lbs. and measures 8.5 inches in length by 4.2 inches in width by 5.67 inches in height. The subwoofer has a slightly rectangular shape and measures 9.25 inches in length by 10.25 inches in height by 13 inches in width. The weight of the subwoofer is 17.5 lbs.

Sound

The maximum acoustic output of all five speakers combined is 110 decibels (db) SPL. Sound pressure level (SPL) refers to the amount of noise produced relative to the quietest sound that a human can hear. The Promedia 4.1 system can play sounds in a frequency range of 29 hertz (Hz) and 20 kilohertz (kHz), which covers all ranges of sound to which the human ear can respond.

Satellite Speakers

The ProMedia 4.1 personal audio system comes with four satellite speakers that can utilize the ProMedia v.2-400 surround system to provide the effect of surround sound. Each satellite speaker utilizes Klipsch MicroTractrix Horns, which are capable of handling high frequency sounds. Klisch claims that these speakers provide an imitation of a movie theater surround sound experience. These woofers utilize 3-inch fiber composite cones to deliver smooth sound, and a control pad allows the surround volume to be adjusted.

Subwoofer

The subwoofer in the ProMedia 4.1 system produces more sound than the satellite speakers. The subwoofer features two 6.5 inch fiber composite cones and is capable of producing five channeled sound. According to Klipsch, the ProMedia 4.1 subwoofer produces high output sound with lower power requirements and low distortion at high volumes.

Connections

The ProMedia 4.1 personal audio system has a four channel soundcard so that users can connect four different devices to the speaker system at the same time. This means that a user can have a DVD player, a television, a video game console and a VCR player all hooked up at to the unit at the same time. A plug is also included to play music directly from an MP3 player. Headphone outputs also come standard with the Klipsh ProMedia 4.1 audio system.
