Troubleshoot The Denon Avr488

The Denon Avr-488 5.1 stereo surround sound receiver allows you to listen to music, watch DVDs and listen to the radio. There are a number of issues you may come across while using the receiver. Some of these issues include the receiver not turning on properly, audio issues and video issues. There are a number of fixes you can try in an attempt to to solve these issues.

Instructions

1. Check the main power cord if the receiver does not turn on. If it is loose or unplugged, securely plug it in. Try unplugging the receiver and plugging it in to another electrical socket. If it turns on, the problem is with the electrical outlet. Call and electrician to fix it. Try turning the receiver on with the remote control. If it does not work, try turning it on with the power button on the front panel. If this works, change the remote's batteries.

2. Check the speakers' connections if there is no sound produced from them. If any of the connections are loose or disconnected, securely connect them. Press the "Input" button on the remote until the "Auto" indicator light on the receiver lights up. This sets the receiver to automatically detect and select the right input mode for producing sound with the device you have hooked the receiver to. Press the "STD" button on the remote to set the receiver to "Standard" mode, which allows the receiver to use surround sound and ensuring you receive sound from all of the speakers.

3. Check the video cables if you are not receiving images from the receiver. If they are loose or disconnected, securely reconnect them. Press the "Input" button on the remote until you see images from the receiver appear on screen. You can also set the "Input" to "Auto" so that the receiver automatically detects and sets the appropriate input source for sending images.
