Know If My Portable Tv Has Digital Tuning

Digital TV

Since all television stations now broadcast solely in digital, you need to make sure your television can receive digital programming. Analog television requires the aid of a converter box; otherwise the set is essentially useless for watching television. The same is true for portable televisions. If your portable television does not have a digital tuner, you can't watch television on it and, unlike standard televisions, you can't easily attach a converter box.

Instructions

1. Power on your portable television in an area that has strong broadcast signals. This may be your home or any other location where you watch television. Adjust the portable television to different stations. If you receive any station at all, the television has a digital tuner.

2. Read the manual for your portable television. The manual will state whether the television has a digital tuner.

3. Determine when you purchased the television. All televisions made within the past few years have a digital tuner. However, if your portable television is 10 years old or older, it is most likely analog and doesn't have a digital tuner.

4. Open your Internet browser and go to the website of the manufacturer of your portable television. Search for your product to see if the site states if it has a digital tuner.
