Install A Cb Radio In A Jeep Liberty

Installing a CB radio in a Jeep Liberty may be more challenging than you think, because the best storage space idea--beneath the center dash with the AC and radio controls--is not optimal. There's not enough room even after removing the plastic. So you're better off finding another place.

Instructions

1. Find the best location in the Jeep, taking the CB's size into consideration. The ceiling may work best, but you could try under either seat, on top of the dash or even on or in the glove compartment.

2. Install the mounting into the car and the radio to the mounting. Since this involves drilling with screws, nuts and bolts, make sure the surface you choose can be drilled through safely. If not, you'll need another location.

3. Attach the wiring to the radio. Route the wiring out of the cab to the engine. In a Liberty, there should be a hole in the driver's side carpet you can use once you remove the plastic trim.

4. Connect the wire to the fuse box. Going right to the accessory block gives you the best power. You will also need to screw a ground wire somewhere in the Jeep. You can attach it to an OEM screw near the firewall.

5. Find a place to screw down the mike mount. It should be somewhere close to the radio, easily accessible and with the mike wire out of the way.

6. Route the antenna wire out through the car and mount the antenna. At least one- to two-thirds of the antenna should be above the roof for best reception. This makes the middle of the roof best.
