The Logitech company produces a line of universal remotes called Harmony, which features an LCD screen and computer software to provide access to the many devices you might have connected to your home-theater system. The Harmony 890 model features support for audio-video receivers that feature multi-zone technology, allowing you to control both zones of the device with one remote.
Instructions
1. Insert the installation disc that came with the Harmony remote into your computer. The installation wizard will start. Click "Install" to begin the process. You need to enter information about yourself to create a Harmony account. Enter your name, email and desired user name and password and click "Next." The next screen will ask where you want to install the Harmony program. Choose a destination and click "Next" to finalize installation.
2. Insert the USB cable into the port on the Harmony remote. Insert the other end into an open USB port on your computer once the Harmony software installation is complete. Open the Harmony program on your computer.
3. Click the "My Remote" button on the home screen of the program. Click the "Add" button to program a new device into the remote. Select the "890 Pro" remote from the list of remotes and click "Next." The program will synchronize the remote with your computer.
4. Click "Add New Device" on the programming screen. A list of available devices will appear. Select the type of device you are programming by clicking on it and click "Next." Select the brand of your device from the list on the next screen and click "Next." Enter the model number for your device in the space provided on the next screen and click "Finish" to add your device.
5. Repeat Step 4 entering the exact same information for your device. When you get to the model number screen, type in the same model number by add "Zone 2" in parenthesis. Click "Finish" to add the additional zone to the remote programing code, allowing you to control Zone 2 with your Harmony remote.
