Use Gps To Save Gas

Today's technology helps people in many ways. One such device with advanced technology is the Global Positioning System, or GPS, and it can save you time and stress. One other thing a GPS can save you is money spent on gasoline. You can reduce the amount of gas you use by knowing plan a trip with your GPS.

Instructions

1. Use the settings option in the GPS menu to change to the shortest distance, instead of the fastest time, and push "Enter" or "Save." Less miles and lower speeds will provide you with better fuel mileage, and help you save money on the amount of gas you need.

2. Go to the avoidances option in the menu of your GPS and choose to avoid cities or towns and save this selection. Cites and towns negatively affect fuel mileage by causing you to stop and go at lights and when stuck in traffic.

3. Enter your destination into your machine by the method you normally would use. There are many different methods to do this, such as by address, from your favorites, or by categories such as restaurants, hotels or other popular destination points.

4. Review the path chosen by your GPS using a map of the region through which you will travel. Make sure that the route selected is reasonable and that you can sensibly follow it during your trip.

5. Listen to the GPS systems that offer traffic advice to help save gas. Standing in a traffic jam or a long detour will cause your gas mileage to worsen. Some GPS systems come programmed to allow for automatic traffic updates and scans to save you this headache.

6. Follow the directions your GPS gives you and enjoy the ride knowing that you will save gas and save money along the way.
