A burned out lamp will cripple your home theater projector. The lamp is crucial to allowing the projector to display the image on your screen. Unfortunately, projector lamps have a limited lifespan and will need to be replaced every few years. Recognizing this, most projector manufacturers make it so owners can replace the lamp themselves, without sending it in to a repair service. Owners of the Mitsubishi HC3000 projector can easily replace the lamp themselves with just a screwdriver.
Instructions
1. Power off your HC3000 and disconnect the power cable. Allow the projector to cool down for about an hour. Turn the projector over so the bottom is facing up.
2. Loosen the screw holding the lamp cover in place. The screw is a captive screw and can't be removed. Lift the lamp cover up and off of the projector.
3. Loosen the three captive screws holding the lamp in place. Pull up and grab the lamp handle and slowly slide the lamp straight up and out of the projector. Don't pull it out too quickly or you can break the bulb.
4. Grab your replacement lamp by the handle and slide it into the projector. Make sure not to touch the glass on the lamp when you are handling it. Push the handle down so it locks into place.
5. Tighten the three screws on the lamp. Replace the lamp cover and tighten the screw.
6. Plug the projector back in and power it on. You have to reset the lamp timer so the projector knows you have installed a new lamp. When the projector powers on, press the left arrow, right arrow and "Power" buttons on the control panel at the exact same time. Hold the buttons for at least three seconds and the timer will reset.
