Import Photos From A Camera To Windows Media Center

Import Photos From a Camera to Windows Media Center

Digital cameras allow you to get instant results, without the hassle and cost of film development. To share or print out your digital photographs, you must transfer them from your camera to a computer. Windows Media Center is one of many programs available for viewing and printing digital photos. Once you import photos from your camera to Windows Media Center, this simple and effective software can help you show off your latest shots in style.

Instructions

1. Connect your camera to your computer via your USB interface cable. (Models vary, so consult your camera manual to find your camera ports and see what your interface cable looks like.) You can also forego the USB cable and instead insert the digital media card from your camera into a USB card reader.

2. Most computers will automatically detect the camera or digital media card and ask what you'd like to do with it. Save your photos to a specific folder on your hard drive. A common place to keep photos is the folder My Pictures, which is usually found under Documents or My Documents. If you are not sure you'll be able to find your photos folder after they are uploaded, create a new folder on your desktop or somewhere else you are comfortable accessing.

3. If the automatic prompt does not appear, find the drive your camera or card reader is connected to and open your photos from there. You can then select and save your photos in your preferred folder, as stated in Step 2.

4. Open Windows Media Center. It automatically scans your computer for new photos, music and video on your hard drive, so it should find your new photos and import them into the Media Center library.
