Bracket With The Canon 50d

Bracketing is only available in creative shooting modes.

The Canon 50D is a professional-level DSLR. It offers many advanced features, such as 15-megapixel images and interchangeable lenses, and one of its options is exposure bracketing. Bracketing is a photo technique used to capture multiple exposures of the same image. This can be useful when a composition has unusual lighting or for creating HDR images. Once the bracketing option is activated, the camera will take three images: one at the set exposure, one brighter and one darker. This provides more options in processing.

Instructions

1. Turn on the camera and set it to one of the creative shooting modes, which are modes P through A-DEP on the camera's dial.

2. Press the "Menu" button, navigate to the "Expo. comp/AEB" option and press the "Set" button.

3. Turn the dial on top of the camera to select the bracketing range, which is displayed on the LCD. A standard range is +/-1. Press the "Set" button to apply the changes.

4. Press the shutter button halfway to return to shooting mode. Aim the camera at the subject and hold the shutter button down. Keep the camera in the same position while the camera shoots three bracketed photos. Once the third picture has been taken, the bracketing cycle begins again.
