Canon 1 4 Ii Extender Instructions

The Canon 1.4x II Extender adds length to your lens.

Canon's Extender EF 1.4x II is a lens accessory used to increase focal length by a factor of 1.4 millimeters. For example, when placed on a 135mm lens, the resulting focal length will be about 190mm. No larger than a thin wide angle lens, the Extender adds versatility to your kit without additional bulk or weight. When attached to any Canon-brand lens, the effective aperture (size of lens opening) is only reduced by one stop while optical quality is unaffected.

Instructions

1. Remove the lens from your camera by depressing the small tab near the mount thread and rotating counterclockwise.

2. Align the red guide dot on the Extender with the corresponding dot near the rear of the lens barrel. Fit the Extender and the lens together and rotate clockwise.

3. Reattach the lens to your camera. Align the guide dot on the mount thread with the dot on the Extender and rotate clockwise.

4. Add one stop of exposure to your settings while the Extender is mounted. You can do this by reducing your shutter speed, widening your aperture (from f/8 to f/5.6, for example) or increasing your ISO (camera sensor's sensitivity to light). If you are using "Auto" mode, the camera will adjust your settings automatically.

5. Remove the Extender by performing Steps 3 through 1 in reverse order.
