Convert Digital Editions
Digital Editions is an ebook reader from Adobe Software that is also an interface for downloading and organizing ebooks and other digital publications purchased online. Files downloaded into the Adobe Digital Editions program are digital rights management--protected, meaning that you can only use them on approved devices and a small number of computers. To use Digital Editions ebooks on devices other than those approved by Adobe, you first need to convert the ebook to a PDF file, then convert the PDF into your ebook reader's appropriate format.
Instructions
1. Download and install Adobe Digital Editions Converter (see Resources).
2. Launch Adobe Digital Editions Converter when the program installation process has completed.
3. Launch the Adobe Digital Editions program. Double-click to select a book and open it to the first page.
4. Click the "Search" button in the Adobe Digital Editions Converter program window.
5. Click "Next." Click "Browse." Type a file name for the output file and choose a save location. Click the "Save" button.
6. Click "Next," then click the "Capture" button. Wait several minutes for the conversion process to finish processing. The PDF file opens automatically in your default PDF viewing program. Close the PDF viewer.
7. Click the "Online eBook Converter" or "2ePub" link (see Resources).
8. Click "Choose File" or "Browse." Click to select the PDF file created by the Adobe Digital Editions Converter program, then click "Open." Click the "Upload Files" button if using 2ePub.
9. Click to select the appropriate ebook format for your preferred device from the "Target eBook Reader" drop-down menu or "Convert to Other Formats" links.
10. Type a number into the Add Border (in cm) text field to add a border to each page in the ebook file. Skip this step if using 2ePub.
11. Click the "Convert File" button or the "Convert Files to ePub" link. A new page displays, indicating the stage of processing in the file conversion. Click the file name, then click "Save" to save the outputted ebook format on your computer.
