Set Up Windows Mobile 6 1 Mms

Setting up multimedia messaging service (MMS) in Windows Mobile 6.1 lets you send and receive messages that include content such as pictures, videos and ring tones. You must first configure your phone to connect to an MMS gateway to take advantage of MMS functions in Windows Mobile 6.1. Although phones purchased directly from a carrier and used on the same network should send and receive MMS messages without incident, devices that have been flashed from one carrier to work on another may experience MMS difficulties. This happens because the server settings saved on the device may be those of the previous carrier.

Instructions

1. Open the "Start" menu and tap "Settings."

2. Tap the "Connections" tab and then click on the "Connections" icon to open settings.

3. Tap the "Advanced" tab and choose "Select Networks." Click on "New."

4. Provide a name for the connection. This is used to identify the MMS service configured on your device. The name can be anything of your choosing to help you identify the MMS connection.

5. Select the data connection type. Depending on the cellular communications standard used by your Windows Mobile phone, the settings may include 1XRTT (CDMA), 1XEVDO (CDMA) and Cellular Line (GPRS), among others. Contact your wireless carrier if you are unsure of the correct selection.

6. Tap "Next" after selecting a cellular connection type.

7. Enter the web address of the MMS access point used by your carrier. This is normally in the format "mms.carrier.com." Contact your cell phone carrier for the exact address used by your type of device in your part of the country.

8. Tap "Next."

9. Enter the MMS user name and password for your carrier in the appropriate fields. You may have to contact your mobile carrier for the information.

10. Tap "Finish."

11. Select the "Proxy Settings" tab and check the box that reads: "This network connects to the Internet" before pressing the "OK" button in the top-right corner of the screen.

12. Click on the "Start" menu from the Windows Mobile homescreen and open the "Messaging" application.

13. Tap "SMS/MMS" and then tap the "Menu" key in the bottom corner of the screen.

14. Select "MMS Options" and then tap on the "Servers" tab. Click the name of the existing MMS connection to modify its details.

15. Enter the server name, gateway (IP address), port, server address, connection type, message size limit and WAP version settings provided by your carrier in the appropriate fields on the screen. You must get this information from your carrier, as server addresses and ports change without warning and the preferred server may vary based on geographic location.

16. Tap the "OK" button in the top-right corner of the screen to save MMS settings.
