Lens error can be troubleshooted by a multi-step process.
Digital SLR cameras offer the photographer many options to get the desired shot, including the ability to switch to different lenses for different applications. Lens options include super telephotos, macros, prime lenses and wide angle lenses. Occasionally, when switching lenses and restarting the camera, you may encounter a lens error message on your camera. Fixing the lens error is usually a simple process.
Instructions
1. Power off the camera and turn it back on. This sometimes fixes the error.
2. Power off the camera, remove the battery and reinsert it. Power on the camera and check to see if that fixed the error.
3. Remove the lens and reattach it. Sometimes a lens doesn't seat right and this causes the lens error.
4. Remove the lens and use the blower to blow dust off the lens contacts on the camera body and the lens. Reattach the lens and check for the lens error.
5. Remove the lens and clean the contacts on both the lens and camera with a small amount of lens cleaning fluid on a cleaning swab. Reattach the lens.
