Kodak Easy Share Problems

Kodak Easy Share is a brand of digital camera manufactured by the the Eastman Kodak Corporation geared toward home and personal use. The digital camera is bundled with its own photograph transfer software also known as Easy Share. The camera and transfer software have a number of problems and issues including memory card failure, software installation issues and picture transfer problems.

Easy Share Software Issue

One problem with the Kodak Easy Share software is a failure to install on your computer system properly. The error message, "Setup failed while attempting to install a package. Kodak Easy Share was unable to finish your task. (Error code 1931x17x2951053040x)," is a common one usually found when trying to install the Easy Share software on a newer computer system. Many Kodak Easy Share cameras come bundled with software that is out of date. To solve the problem, visit the Kodak website (see Resources below) and download the latest version of the Easy Share software for your system.

Issue With Updated Easy Share Software

A problem related to the updated Easy Share software is after downloading the new software, another error occurs, with the message, "LTD10N.dll could not be found." This problem is due to fragments of the other version of Easy Share software still being present on your system. To solve, remove the updated version of the Easy Share software from your system through the "Add/Remove" function in Windows or by dragging the "Easy Share" folder to the "Trash Can" on the Mac. Then visit kodak.com/go/clear and download the Kodak "Clear Utility." This program will remove any fragments of previous Easy Share programs from your system.

Not Being Able to Transfer Pictures

A problem related to the Kodak Easy Share camera is not being able to transfer pictures from the camera to the computer. In this case, the Easy Share software can't recognize the Kodak camera even though it is powered on and connected to the computer via the USB cable and port. To solve this problem, exit out of the Kodak Easy Share software and navigate to "My Computer" and see if you see an icon for the Kodak Easy Share camera. If on the Mac, look on your Desktop for an icon. Double-click on the camera's icon and view your pictures directly from the camera. You can then copy, print and move the pictures to another folder on your computer. You can also remove the camera's memory card and transfer them via a card reader.

Memory Card Issue

The Kodak Easy Share camera's memory card failing is another problem you may encounter. The memory card will simply fail to be recognized by your camera, card reader or by a film processing center you took the card to to get prints made. To solve this problem, try the memory card in another camera or use a service that specializes in recovering data from corrupted memory cards. If there are no pictures present on the memory card, try reformatting the memory card through the Kodak Easy Share camera's format program. The format program is found within the menus on the camera.

Easy Share Dock Printer Problem

The Easy Share dock printer is yet another problem related to using a Kodak Easy Share camera and software. The dock printer may or may not recognize your camera once it has been placed in the connector on the printer. To solve this problem, try cleaning the gold connectors on the printer with a pencil eraser. Then make sure the camera is on and in the transfer mode. Also, use a can of compressed air to blow out any dust present around the gold connectors.
